Hi all, I have a 2007 tfsi vrs. And I was wondering if I need a canbus iso harness to fit my new stereo? Just not sure if required or not! Also does the rear bodywork need to be modified for a 4x4 conversion?

Thanks.

You need a new rear floorpan and fuel tank, but no new skin panels.

Thank you. Does the wheel well get removed then for the conversion?

Our 4x4 still had a full size wheel well...

Same for both of ours.

Thinking about it I think the boot floor was at a higher level in the 4x4 than normal FWD cars though as it didn't have the variable level and underfloor storage arrangements.

Thanks for your replies. I'll have to look into this a bit more. As I didn't really want to remove the stereo installed in the boot. But looks like it'll need to be modified too.

Should also add its a hatchback not estate if that makes a difference!

FYI Both our 4x4s had/have full depth spare wheel wells, normal spare wheel and false floors.

I suggest a close look at the parts diagrams and in particular the PR codes; 'bottom plate for rear' diagram for a 2007 Octy is HERE, scroll down for the parts listing.  Item 5 (bottom plate) appears to be the key one and appears under three sets of PR codes:

4P1 = Rear floor panel module, type 2
4P3 = Rear floor panel module, type 4
1X0 = Front wheel drive
1X1 = Four wheel drive

- from which I suggest the correct floor panel for a 4WD would be the type 4 - 1Z9813114C.

What none of this detective work can uncover is exactly what is different between the various versions of the floor panel.

You might also want to look at under body trim HERE, rear axle HERE, brakes HERE, gearbox (for 4wd mounts) HERE, fuel tank and mounts HERE, and a miscellany or electrics/electronics - especially for the Haldex system.

Thanks for that, it's very helpful. The system I'm planning is currently in an Audi a3. So will have everything to hand pretty much. Just wasn't sure whether the floor pan needed modifications to fit the rear diff etc. As I currently have a stereo system installed in the boot and wheel well.

You can find parts catalogue info for the A3 on the same site as I showed for the Octy; entry page is LLLParts.

Thanks again, I've used that site to purchase a couple of items before.  It's a very helpful site and having part numbers is extremely helpful too.
