I believe the oil alone is/was £120 or so

There is an excellent guide on here somewhere, when I saw it I thought to myself “yeah I’ll leave it to those who know..”

That's fair price from a main dealer.

This is the guide

Wow its not just a simple empty and refill to me that's a job for skoda 2hrs approx there's no way i'd even attempt that kudos to the guy who took that on and completed it as you said i'll leave it to those who know the extra dealer charge is a guarantee if its not done properly i can see why its 2hrs i believe when the DSG hits 80,000 i think they're haldex clutch plates need replacing also i believe at that milage the timing chain needs replacing i know they're gonna hurt the pocket lol

I just did mine in 2.0 Diesel DQ381, it took the best part of 7 litres. Main Dealer oil this time.

@Chris40   Where are you getting this stuff from about Haldex Clutches and timing chains?

Fluid and filter with a DQ381...

Do not trust this below.

Thanks 😁 👍

Sorry for the offtopic but am I wrong that the oil price has increased with 50-70% for the last couple of years?! 40 quid per liter is way too much

My regular garage, a VAG independent said they didn't service DSGs but put me in touch with the local man who does. He quoted me about £300.

(Vague number because the guy gave me a rapid-fire list of prices of oil, filter, labour over the phone and then finished with "Plus the VAT!" and I didn't have a pen handy.) and it's a while you wait service.

He said the gearboxes themselves are bulletproof mechanically, with the mechatronic unit being the weak point, but it was no bother to sort out.

He was very complimentary about the DQ381's reliability, and said oil changes were really for the benefit of the clutches.

I'll probably get it don't next year at 6 years and around 26K miles.

Yeah, that oil does seem a bit pricy. I thought that quote was for the job but it's just the parts.

There's no timing or mileage link between DSG and Haldex service.

DSG : every 40 or 80000 miles depending on which DSG model

Haldex : every 3 years without mileage limit (though I think it should be the contrary).

I've changed my DSG oil in 2021 (see my "How to guide", quoted above) and I'm about to do it next week again (120000 km on the clock). The DSG oil kit (incl filters ands seal washers) was almost at the same price around €105 (less than €10 difference between both in 3 years).

I bought the kit from VAG dealer this year for my DQ250 box and i think i was £130. DQ381 seems a hike in price

That's quite a difference. Online oils varied from €28 a litre upwards for this spec after I briefly looked. My mechanic said get the OE stuff.

Had mine done at the local main dealer last month, as I was on 38500. £270 all in.

I knew they wouldn't have a slot for weeks; booked it when I was at 36000, so it all worked out. Wouldn't liked to have waited until 41000 to even book it though. Might have affected the warranty I guess.
