Rear shocks

Featured Replies

Browsing brochure for Kamiq SE L and found that rear shock absorption is a feature of this trim level (see below). Unsure of what feature this could be (crash protection or what) I contacted Skoda customer service and was utterly astounded to receive the reply below.

I tried hard to explain that rear suspension/ shock absorbers have been standard on all cars since before I learned to drive in mid 1960’s - obviously someone told to make a up a number of bullet points with no understanding of cars. 🤯

Perhaps it doesn't have fronts?

LOLROFHMS!! The only cars I've ever driven that did not have separate hydraulic or friction dampers for every wheel were hydropneumatic Citroens, and one 2CV that had one damper and spring operating on each side.

Could possibly be translation of rear crash absorption.

That is what I thought it might be but the answer is suspension parts. Really poor

The person giving the answer may not have understood the possibility of it being a poor translation.

that feature "rear shock absorption" comes from the PR numbers every car has,  basically every major part of the car that gets mounted on the conveyor in the factory has a specific code

so it is not a feature, it is  a component.

PR code is 3 character alphanumeric code that describes equipment of a car.

in the above exemple, the rear suspension is UA5, basic shocks.

If the car has, for exemple, Sport suspension, the code would be different to describe the sport shocks, but the name woud still be Rear Shock Absorption

so , someone from Skoda UK wanted to make a list of features and they simply did copy/paste from the vehicle identification information.
