Dynamic indicators disappointment

Featured Replies

I ordered a pair of what was advertised as dynamic indicators for my 2018 Mk3 Superb. After trying to fit them today, unsuccessfully, it seems there's a nodule that protrudes from the rear of the light unit preventing fitment to this car. Yes I know they are from China and what do you expect, but as eBay seemed to be littered with what appears to be the same items for 3 times the price I thought i'd take a pun. It's a shame they wouldn't fit as I plugged one in and it actually worked well.

Curious to see if anyone else on here has successfully fitted their superb with this indicators and if so where they sourced them from.

I've fitted the dynamic indicators, from AliExpress, many many years ago.

No issues with the fitment on the MY17.

I know a few others who have used it to, with no issues.

Likely u've got the facelift version, which has a different design to the pre-facelift wing mirror.

Facelift started from MY20 I believe.

In less time than you spent taking, composing and uploading your photos and description you could have cut off the offending piece of plastic.

LOL yes i did consider that but when i look at what sits underneath from the other side, it appears to be a bit of circuit board so might not be a good idea 😞

Ah.......... - well played!

If you did cut it off, could you not cut the very end off and superglue it or similar? It will be hidden by the look of it. Shame though!

is the signal light visible from the rear ?

one superb owner had those chinese where it is not and while changing the lanes he hit unmarked police car.

the officers immediately knew there is something wrong with his blinker.

resume:

he was found to be at fault (of course, as he was).

& insurance company refused to cover the repair cost for the police car damage because of non-homologated turn signal.

after reading that i forgot any dynamic indicator "upgrades"

Facelift wing mirrors are the same, the only time they change is if the car has areaview cameras, then the internals change.

Definitely not.

a few months ago i bought a facelift wing mirror cover, with the blind spot light in the cover - completely different size and no chance of it fitting.

Had to return it.

If the cover is different, the internals will b different, including the blind spot light position next to the hinge.

U can see from the image comparisons below that the dynamic indicator light also has a different length.

your FL covers looks different to mine 2023 Mk3.FL,

which are exactly same as 2016 Mk3, just blind spot indicator migrated from mirror to body

Strange.

I bought the facelift Superb MY19-22 wing mirror from VAGEXPRESS, and they insisted it was the right part.

This was the part number on it - 3VD 857 538A.

the pr codes on the right show what they are for

KA0 is no cameras

KA6 is areaview

7Y0 is without blind spot

7Y1 is with blind spot

The 3VD part number is China market specific and although a lot of parts do fit, they’re mirrors must be different :)

Thanks @ApertureS for the part numbers.

It would seem I need to get 3V0 857 538C

No Area View (KA0), with Blind Spot (7Y1).

I ordered a set of these from AliExpress but now having second thoughts RE insurance not liking them. Has anyone else had any issue?

I'm the original poster - I just flogged mine on eBay as didn't want the grief related to insurance plus wasn't happy with the bodged fitting.

Ok. Seeing as I won’t be able to see them from inside I think I’ll return them once they arrive. Thanks

iv has simular wing dynamic repeaters on my exeo so was going to do the same on the Superb( dynamic mirror indicators,,, before some one gets smart 😝) then saw your post about replacing mirror glas and thought ... sod that for a game of soldiers...

yep unfortuanitly insurance companys will try and use any reason not to pay out a claim, so any modifications would need to be notified to them ,,, but then even that may not be enough,,, as if they wanted to get finiky they could always pick on items that arnt genuine parts, like bulbs that arnt the correct type for the car or dont have the right type approval 🤪
