Hi everyone, just received my black Sportline 1.5 dsg yesterday, and to say I am pleased is an understatement.

It's my first DSG/auto  in 48 years of motoring  and very easy to drive, I have to reverse up a short inclined off road parking  space up to a wall , so the first attempt was a bit nerve wracking 😕. Going to try it again today with the hill assist and stop start turned off , see if I have a bit  more control. Or may even put a rubber parking kerb in for peace of mind .

What are people using to adapt the c type usb port . Thanks in advance.

I would be wary of anything from Amazon, too many fakes and unknown makes.

I recently bought a belkin usb-c to usb-a from Argos (and in stock at my local store).  It worked no problem with my MacBook and a very old Garmin Satnav.  Not tried it in the car yet.  Advantage is it is a known make and if I have a problem it is easy to take back.

Reversing up an incline up to an object is perhaps what some might consider the weak point of the dry clutch DSG.

Definitely switch off S/S, Auto hold might need to be switched off too, personal experience in the specific situation will determine, I would keep hill hold engaged, to prevent running forward and then having to either brake or try and catch it on the throttle. Have you got pedestrian assist switched on, that should stop you hitting an object in front or behind when creeping. Experiment with an empty card box,I did, if I let the Karoq creep up to the box on tick over in forward or reverse, it would fully apply the brakes to cause an emergency stop. Having said that it’s a leap of faith to rely on it. I have resorted to left foot braking of using the manual handbrake on my previous DSG car, but the electric parking brake has removed that option.

Request to Skoda, could a hand controlled brake function be added to the paddles to help in this situation?

That's all good advice, tried with the stop start, and the airing brake turned off and can control it better on the throttle, I don't want to mess about too long as worried for the clutches.

Will investigate the pedestrian assist.

I once, and only once, made the mistake of driving forwards into an on street slightly downhill parking bay at right angle to the street. It was an uphill reverse out into two lanes 30 mph traffic. The view to each side was compromised by the vehicles parked either side. This was when I resorted to creeping using the handbrake to control speed.

Yes , being used to a manual Ie controling the car on the clutch and throttle, I am finding the dsg interesting , early days though 😊

On another note. Can't connect my own or the wife's phone, g7 and g8 , with android auto wirelessly.

The blue tooth connection works fine for the phone, but not android auto .

A lot of the control options are sensors linked to the throttle and for brake. For example S/S can be controlled by brake pedal pressure, reducing brake pedal pressure slightly as you come to a stop will keep the engine running, likewise with the engine off reducing pedal pressure with start the engine provided you don’t have Auto Hold on. Turning the steering wheel will restart the engine, leaving a slightly bigger gap to the next vehicle in a queue allows you start creeping forward when the car ahead of the one in front starts moving, it gives time for the engine to restart and the clutches to engage.

assuming you have space to do so, opening the drivers door (in an emergency) will slam the brakes/hold function on - at least it does on my DSG!

Yep, mine too, although I didn’t know the reason the parking brake would suddenly active - opening the drivers door whilst manoeuvring!
