Heater Temperature problems, i only get heat when set to HI?

Featured Replies

Morning all,

1st time poster so go steady

I have had a search through using various different things, most posts seem to cover fan speeds but my problem isnt that.

Heat only comes through when temperature is set to HI, all other temp settings are pretty cool. I have done the flap reset a few times, removed the climate unit and give all connectors a clean and check. outside temp reads ok.

i have yet to plug it in to VCDS.

Any pointers?

Thanks

Hi,

I have exact the same problem. I took it to a few garages but could not make any progress. I am looking forward to any helpful responses especially the winter is coming 😞

Could be the resistor?

Any more info you can provide for this?

Ran VCDS last night with no faults.

On mine Hi is "Full hot", Lo is "Full cold", and the numbers mix hot and cold to give you a selected temperature (range 18 to 30C).

I understand that. Issue i am having is if i set to 29.5 it is blowing cold.

And its not always done that.

OK, what reading(s) do you get from the outside temperature gauge (sensible or not rather than actual values)?

Yeh happy with those, comparing to my other car it seems good.

The resistor controls the fan speed, not the temperature.

You have done a flap reset but can you check (hear?) the mixer flap actually moving?

The other possibility is that the hot water is limited in flow rate or temperature. Open the bonnet and at the firewall you will see two water hoses going through to the heater. Check that both are hot with all settings of the heater setting.

Suspect a collapsed hose or failed thermostat.

Cant see it being either of those to be honest, i would get no heat at all surely.

When engine up to temp and i set to HI its blazing, everything else cool, i suspect its going to be Temp control flap or motor.

All sorted.

Checked all motors, all seemed ok.

Faulty climate panel in the end.

@greetham did you come to this conclusion after changing the panel, or did you figure it out because the other possible parts were working fine? The reason I am asking is that if you changed the panel and it finally started working properly, I will rush to order one too 😃

Motors functioned fine, no worn plastic gears, everything cycled as it should.

No issues with coolant flow.

No issues with engine temp.

No issues with external temp.

Hi @greetham, I was wondering if you have had time to renew the panel. If you have, did it solve the problem?
