Rear wiper blade for L & K estate

Featured Replies

So pleased, well sort of pleased I saw this thread, picked up my 12 month old Sportline plus today and noticed the rear wiper was more or less "set" one way, tried it and as others have said it just juddered up the screen, Order the recommended A403H one from Amazon, only to then see this thread, fortunately in time to cancel the order, like many I have trawelled the Internet but can't find any reference to the new wiper. Can't believe this is going to be a part we need to order through Skoda!!

My wiper blade final arrived this afternoon. All went fine & fitted with a small suprise.

The new wiper arm actually has a 1-2cm large sweep than the original part, fitting is simple & the new arm is fully compatible with the Bosch A403H blade.

Total price for the new arm & bosch blade was €33 (24 + 8) not including the shipping so after 2 changes it is "cost neutral" to buying the new blade from Skoda directly.

Here are some photos of the new & old wiper arm together. Top is the original arm from the car & bottom is the Skoda replacement.

The original blade from the car has a higher quality finish (mottled effect instead of gloss plastic) but it doesnt really justify changing the design.

One thing I noticed on the table was the placement of the "clipping" hole means that with the new arm the blade sticks out ~2cm more than the original.

You can see this on the car once its fitted below.....

I didnt clean the glass before hand as I thought it would help me make sure it was aligned but actually it shows clearly the difference in the sweep of the blade.

Wash day is tomorrow I promise 😆

Winner winner

Gabbo,

Thank you for your thorough report on the wiper arm. Will be ordering one for my Superb.

Cheers

The silence when it wipes the window was worth the wait..

I really can't see any reason why Skoda changed the design & also why is taken so long for the 3rd party manufacturers to design a small adapter to make it fit to the existing aftermarket blade

My rear wiper had acquired a 'set' and only squeegeed in one direction then juddered in the reverse direction after about 800 miles.

I fitted the Bosch replacement and it has gone nicely ever since. I suspect the sprung arm was too powerful and needed to relax.

Excellent information, just one question before I order, do you have to order a new end cap that covers the spline nut? Or does the old one fit?

The old one fits fine.

Clicked back into place directly.

When I fitted the new that thought immediately jumped into my head but luckily it fits without problems.

Excellent news, just ordered a good condition used one from Ebay which I should get before the weekend, Ironically the wiper blade I ordered, and then subsequently tried to cancel, turned up this morning!!

Just twist the plastic blade. Hold the inner end with the left and twist the outer end down with the right hand. That way it stops juddering

It could be the case that the latest design is more rigid than the previous one.

You can't see it has crossed reinforcements in the plastic moulding which the previous one does not have.

However both feel solid and unlikely to flex under the force of just the spring...

My Octavia makes the same scraping noise even with the Bosch blades when they are coming to the end of their life.

Looking at the profile, they don't particularly look worn or degraded.

My assumption is that the rubber hardens over time in the UV light and this is what causes the scraping.

It's not really how much you use the blade, rather how long it's exposed to the daylight that determines it's lifetime

World of difference between the suppleness of an old one and new one for sure!

Rear wiper arm up-grade, back-grade, old-grade, what ever you want to call it, done.

Salvage part from e-bay, Fortunately in like new condition so looks good, plus the new blade I ordered but then couldn't cancel, which ended up being convenient.

Unfortunately had to modify my wiper arm removal tool as there was no way it was fitting around the plastic surround of the wiper spindle!!🫤

My flat head screw driver was not right right tool 😬 ?

New wiper arm for 'old' style blade fitted. No noise - excellent! Arm from Skoda Parts included a blade (not sure what make - see packaging with nos.). This blade does not judder - for how long? Who cares.........I can now fit a Bosch replacement. Thanks to all the others who trialled this first. Cheers
