Newbie - 16 Plate Mk 3 Boot Question

Featured Replies

Hi guys, just picked up a 16 plate L&K Estate over the weekend and already love this car to bits!

No manual with it for me to check.

Is the boot supposed to close with either the virtual pedal or the interior button?

I seem to have quite a good virtual pedal otherwise, works 2/3 of the time!

Close with virtual pedal - yes.

Close with interior button - no.

Close with key fob - yes.

Open with virtual pedal - yes.

Open with interior button - yes.

Open with key fob - yes.

Is the opening/closing with fob a Aussie thing? Doesn’t work for UK models at least 2016 ones anyhoo

My 2016 UK model didn't have closing from the virtual pedal - just the keyfob (if you were outside the car) and the button on the boot. My 2023 UK model does do closing from the VP.

Not sure.

Mine is MY17.  Factory behaviour.

No, it’s also available in France too. At least on MY17 and MY18.

Only works when you´re outside the car.

This function was disabled sometime in the lift of the SIII, as deemed probably too "simply clever" 🙄

it appears to be retrofittable, probably needs a module swap and coding as well.

You can look through the manual for you car online.  Don't worry about the VIN, just select previous, then Superb III.

Thank you!

The manual isn't clear, but it seems to suggest that the pedal should be able to close the boot too.

Mine doesn't seem to want to close with the virtual pedal.

I've adjusted my kicking technique and can now open the boot 100% of the time!

Mine opens and closes with the fob, it's a 16 plate.

Oh maybe and L&K thing hmm

Mine opens but doesn’t close, saw others on here had the same so assumed all were like it

Errrrr. Mine does. Stay within a few feet of the hatch, then press and hold the button on the key and down it goes, accompanied with the usual bleeping. I think perhaps you need to try being closer to the hatch?

And the virtual pedal works to close as well as open the hatch too.

I was right next to it hmm, is yours non l&k?

It is an L&K, but for the life of me, I simply cannot believe that VAG would have 1/2 a function disabled on what was an option on all models below SE-L in 2015/16.

@Danoid - provided u have KESSY and u have the Easy Open option in ur infotainment setup correctly - u should b able open/close with the key fob.

I can open with key fob up to 50m away from the car.  I can't open with key fob when inside the car.

I can close with key fob provided I'm within 3m in the area behind the car.

I can't close with key fob when inside the car.

No keyless for me, and no easy open option either.

So I guess people who have keyless can open and close with fob

Peasants like me without can’t 😁

I recall also that I it took a while to figure that it does not need a Bruce Lee/Chuck Norris type kick, but a gentle swing.

Also, seems to be a little delay, both for opening and closing, so you got to wait a little before start swingin' again 🤪
