Safelock not working

Featured Replies

The Safelock on my 2018 Octavia has never worked. I don't get the warning message in the instrument cluster, but the warning light in the driver's door flashes to tell me it's working. Any ideas?

Also the anti-theft alarm has never worked. I presume the two features are related somehow.

Welcome.

Have you had the car from new so 6 years of never working,

or was there a previous owner who maybe disabled them?

I have had the car since new

Are deadlocking and alarm fitted to your car, not all markets have them as standard.

The User Manual describes the deadlocking and anti-theft alarm functions, although the manual covers every possible function, so you are probably right - they weren't fitted to my car. I'm suprised they didn't fit something as basic as an alarm.

Handy if you had said in the post that you are in Australia. It does make a difference.   The self kicking can be activated and deactivated by a dealer or with the appropriate device.  Cars do come without activated and not standard in all world regions.

If you can find the car data sticker and use an online decoder that will confirm whether or not they are fitted to your car.

Okay - this sounds weird, but you probably need to recalibrate your electric windows! Engine running, in neutral (or park on DSG), wind down the window and hold switch DOWN for 5 seconds.  Now wind up window (holding switch) AND KEEP holding it for 5 seconds after the top of the windows is reached.  Do this for each window.  I think that should solve the issue.

Tried it, but it didn't help.

My Owner's Manual says:

SafeLock switches on when the vehicle is locked.

This function is enabled after switching off the ignition with the message Check SAFELOCK! Owner's manual in the instrument cluster display.

With the activated SafeLock, the warning light in the driver's door flashes for 2 seconds in rapid succession, this then starts to flash at longer intervals.

I have never seen the warning message, but the warning light flashes exactly as described when I lock the car.
