Well googling this issue on the volkswagen forums, it would seem that the problem is often cured by flashing a different version of software into one or more modules e.g. the dash cluster and/or the headunit.....

Yes, you need to flash the cluster

@muddyjim @Eddie-NL thanks guys ...that's basically what that sns company was trying to tell us ...but you've given more detail as to what needs to be done ...much appreciated ...if any of you guys have the hardware to do this then I'm sure some more people will be in touch from my post ....also ...if you have got the hardware to do it ...maybe you can put on here where you are based ...to let people know if your close by to them ...(Including me) ...I'm in Sheffield by the way

My Kamiq has done the same, latest this week, infotainment display time correct, virtual cockpit display way out. I think it reset to 00.00. on there. This has happened around 3 times in the last 3 months, who knows why but on the same day it threw up the SOS warning too, separate threads on that one around the forums.🤔

Had a guy with a late 2016 VW Tiguan which had PQ-MIB unit and the same issue, all fixed. He said VW wanted to change the radio

Was it done by remapping ECU ...cos that's what I'm planning on doing at a nearby garage ...see if that works

As a newbie, I have the same issue with my 2016 2.0 4x4 Yeti. My question is, did you get it sorted Andrew? I am in Sheffield so its of interest to me ofc!

Hello Jeppo ...regrettably not ...all the people answering were just wanting to keep it to themselves instead of sharing how to do it / helping people out ...i gave in asking .

Mine is still the same ... I did get told by a friend that maybe having the car remapped might sort it out ... I have yet to find out how true that is .

Please let me and everyone else know on here if you get any answers

Regards

Andy

Or ...the people that said they could help just lived too far away from Sheffield ...and asking them how to fix it so I could take my car to an auto electrician closer to me ...seemed like I was going down a dead end road ... I told a friend about this "flash the cluster" ...that's when he said about maybe remapping might help /cure it

Well remapping is engine only, it just runs the engine nothing else. It wont affect how the engines ECU talks to other things thats different firmware that I know nothing about other than in Vauxhall land would be called SPS Security Program Software which most modules could be updated etc but not written to do different things.

FIXED with a software download for free. Dubious at first but it works. Time now correct on unit as well as on matrix. This was on an Amundsen unit.

After the download you need to extract the files as they are in a compressed file in a 7z file (I've not seen that before but you can get free software to unpack it - via Microsoft store for example).

Then just copy to an SD card.

This YouTube video shows you how to get the file and how to update the system (i had to stop the video and zoom in for the website etc a few times) but you can work out out...
