Got the Driver Assistance Plus Package for the Trained parking - for the Mrs :)

Anyone used this? is it worth the extra money or is it a bit hit and miss (pun intended)

87 views, not 1 reply...wow...no one else thought trained parking was worth the extra £ then?

Too be honest, the only time I could think this might be useful is when some moron parks their enormous SUV hard up against the drivers side door.

So you bought a car that doesn't suit your Mrs

perhaps you should have part exch the Mrs instead. 🤡

this isn't just the ability to move the car back and forth when in a tight spot, but actually park itself (also remembers a few positions you use regularly)

You're making the assumption that loads of people are driving around in Mk2 Kodiaqs with trained parking, and use this forum. Personally, I've seen 1 Kodiaq Mk2 outside of a dealer... and it was while I was in Dublin.

From the threads on here, I'd suggest that probably isn't the case - and for most of those who have ordered one, they haven't actually received it yet, trained parking or not.

fair point, I thought they may have had it on previous models

Trained parking? Is that really what it's called? Same as park assist or more?

Forget that i've googled it. Anyone that needs that shouldn't be driving. It's getting silly now.

You evidently haven't got a new-build house with a single garage... so narrow it's either having the ability for the car to put itself in there, or getting out the boot.

But - at least the single garages are long enough (they're longer so you can store bikes at the back of them, apparently). My Kodiaq will fit in to my double garage with about an inch or so to spare front and back. Not sure a Mk2 would fit at all, it being longer. And people complain about cars parked everywhere and no-one using their garages... it's probably because their cars won't fit in them (with room to then get out of it)!

Sorry, rant over. Totally agree we shouldn't need trained parking in an ideal world, but they've got to keep 'innovating' to encourage us to keep buying new cars.

bit harsh, not that the Mrs can't park, but if you can be "assisted" why not use the feature? It's like you saying anyone that uses adaptive cruise control shouldn't be driving.

  • 1 month later...

I have just 8 sensors 4 at the front and 4 on the back plus one underside of each wing mirror

I have the self parking switch below the screen but no sensors on the wheel trims either side of the car

Do I have parking assist ? If so how do I use it ?

I have the feature and have six sensors in the front and back.

The feature works, albeit slow. It can get into quite small parking spots.

But its not that you can get out of the car to park it automatically.

yeh think they have missed a trick with being able to move the car when you are not in it, like tight garage parking or driveways.

Does park well in tight spaces, but as you said can be a little slow, so as long as there isn't anyone waiting behind you it's fine.

No, that’s what trained parking is, which is a separate option to park assist.

oh, i've got park assist plus package would have thought that would have been included? can it be added on?

ah just checked, its called Remote Park assist, and is included in the Park Assist plus package and should be controllable via the app - will have to try it later :)

Ive got the parking package. Which does seem to include 'Remote and Intelligent Park Assist'. But haven't found anything in app or menus.

with the car locked and keys present, use the app to unlock and you should then get the option to "park" car, and then use the remote function from within the app.

In the June price list remote park wasn't mentioned. Nowhere in the manual either it seems. Although I've got the Dutch version.

Neither in the September price list. It popped up in the november version.

Ordered mine in may, but it was only produced in november.
