Brake fluid change price ..........

Featured Replies

I do not think this will surprise many of you ........

But BMW (yes, I know) want me to take my car in to them to change the brake fluid .............. and they want me to pay one hundred and seventy pounds for the privilege, Lol.

I took the car to my usual place that the Octavia, Audi and Saab have all visited annually whilst they were in my possession, for it's first MOT today, and asked them for a price to change the brake fluid.

That would be sixty five pounds ........... Thanks mate, I will get it booked in, see you soon I said, Lol.

The issue is that the car has a service reminder for this and I do not think it can be reset without specialist equipment

It does allow me to reset what it cheekily calls an 'annual emissions check'' .........  Lol.

Any thoughts ........... (apart from maybe not buying a BMW in the first place, Lol) Thanks.

Check if the OBDeleven one will do it?

https://obdeleven.com/supported-vehicles?BMW

Probably cheaper than BMW would charge you to change the brake fluid. 😀

Thanks. AG Falco

Have the brake fluid changed at a competent Independent BMW or German Car specialist, or just as i do at a competent mechanic with all the gear and more than ideas.

As i have with discs getting replaced & servicing done.

That is if you do not require a Full BMW Main Dealer Service history.

It's a hike from Notts, but "B for BMW" use trained mechanics and will maintain a BMW service history on your 0.5 series.

It's the service reminder that stays on the system by the sounds of it, if it doesn't get reset, that will bug me .......

Showing as Orange now as it is due this month (according to them anyway) but sounds like it turns to red if it doesn't get done and reset.

Be on the dash for a few seconds every time it is switched on. Cheeky buggers, car manufacturers.......

Spoke to them today and they have said that they will do it for £115, as I told them my local garages price and that a web search shows normal prices between £60 to £90 ...........

I'm also not sure that I'll be keeping the car due to the road / tyre noise. Some of it is in my head though due to stupid amounts of stress at work dealing with stupid and lazy individuals. Some days not as bad as others.

If this guy sorts his microphone out I may be able to save myself £50 (the difference) and not have to go all the way to Derby, Lol.

Driving from Notts to Glasgow to get a labour rate of £60/hour and maintain your service log.

BMW/Mini system is a bit of a PITA. There are reminders  you can clear yourself (MOT), alerts you can clear with an ODB reader and some stuff that you need to go to them for.
I had to pay the robbing barstewards £175 to clear a sensor alert caused by going through some heavy rain.
