front shocks

Featured Replies

HI

i've just been quoted £ 960 for pair of front shocks on 2017 vrs , yikes , one of them is leaking. is this about right and has anyone any recommendations as i may buy myself and take to a fit your own guy

Do you have DCC (Dynamic Chassis Control) aka electronical adjustable suspension - most obvious sign would be a 'comfort' mode in the driving modes options.

If so, a pair of genuine DCC front shocks are the best part of £600 which is the bulk of the cost. I recently had mine changed for a similar price.

However, it you have normal suspension, that feels quite expensive as the shocks as much much cheaper...

after speaking with the garage it also included two top mounts so that

feels more palatable i think.

i dont have a comfort mode but i do have custom which i can adjust

thanks

£960 sounds quite steep even with top mounts!

i've recently had top mounts, struts and drop links done on mine. i bought Sachs top mounts, Bilstein struts and Delphi drop links. parts all in about £200.

Got a local mobile mechanic to fit costing £120. I'm based in the south west.

Sorry if this is hijacking the thread. May I be rude and ask what mileage your car had done when you changed the shocks. I have owned my Octavia TDi since 60,000 but now has 303,000 miles and am looking at either a VRS 245 or the VRS Challenge with DCC. I am aware of the cost of DCC dampers but wondered how often they may need changing. (For future reference another post mentions a company Nagengast in Poland who refurbish DCC dampers.)

Just over 70k...

It'll very much depend on the roads and your alloys. Mine are 19s and they've had some massive hits in that time including his hard enough to buckle the alloys and even pop a tyre on the M11. It was dark and wet, whatever I hit took out about 10 other cars too, one hell of a bang though!

My old MK2 TDI on 16s was still going strong at 190k on the originals.

It's very much down to luck I think 🤔
