Skoda equivalent to VW Golf eHybrid?

Featured Replies

Are there any rumours about a Skoda equivalent to the VW Golf eHybrid or should I just go ahead and buy the VW version?

Sorry no idea about 1.5TSI PHEV Octavia.

There is the SEAT Leon e-Hybrid 1.5TSI (PHEV)

They are doing a 1.5 PHEV Fabia.

Having driven both a 2023 1.5 Golf and 2024 1.0 Leon FR, go for the SEAT.

I will admit, I liked neither and couldn't wait to get back into my vRS, but the Golf was just so numb - I had to check the clutch pedal was attached to the car.

Price difference aside, I found the Leon to be a far nicer car to drive and sit in. I also found the SEAT system to be easier to use than the VW (which still to this day made no sense to me). I mean, top left - if I press it, would I get a coffee?!

@Occy245 Any link to press releases on a Mk4 Fabia 1.5 TSI PHEV?

The PHEV,s have a DQ400-e DSG so no clutch pedal.

If you think the car is right and maybe time for a rest you might have any drink you fancy!

Apologies, I should have known better than to challenge you... The article I flicked onto wrote the E-TEC as PHEV. If OP is looking at a Golf then it's likely either the A3, Leon or that. I would suggest the Octavia is almost an alternative to the Passat PHEV.

I've never seen a manual PHEV (?) - I was meaning more as a comparison to how the car felt in general! my first reaction to it, if I'm honest, was "how can they ruin a Golf this much?".

Surprising there has been no  mention of a MHEV Fabia which really is a surprise it would have made sense.

I am specifically looking for a "small(ish)" PHEV.  I don't want a SUV or some large car (e.g. the Octavia).

A car the size of a Fabia would be ideal, very occasionally I need to carry a lot of stuff, e.g. on holiday in Europe.

For local journeys a "Plug-in" is ideal.

For longer journeys I don't want an EV while charging is so unpredictable due to the shortage of facilities in the UK.

As it happens, I visited a local Skoda dealership yesterday and spoke to a Salesman who was both helpful and honest (unusual!)

He knew of the VW Golf eHybrid and GTE and said that he was not aware of any plans by Skoda to release anything similar.

He was very sceptical about the practicalities of EVs, despite the Government's plan to penalise dealers for not selling as many as they should; he said that EVs had an awful resale value!

Here is a link to the new VW Golf PHEVs - https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/en/new/golf.html

Maybe honest, but talking nonsense.

Dealers are not being penalised for not first registering 22% of Electric cars or 10% of Electric vans.

** The Manufacturer they sell the cars of might be limiting the ICE vehicles they can sell and they feel punished, and need to mouth off..**

It is Manufacturers so their Importers being fined for the missed target.  £15,000 per vehicle over the missed number.  It looks like they will meet the target but buying others credits.

EV,s are suffering terrible residuals but that is sellers problems not the buyers of used.

Huge discounts right now on New EV,s since there is the Mandate to be met.    So really the resale value matters little for those buying a keeper.
