There is no SD card slot - the update takes place through one of the USB C ports

Many thanks for that. I was starting to think that was the case.

The map file zip is enormous!   29GB!!  Not something I would want to do over the car's internet connection.

Looking at the car it says: "Navigation Database 24.10"

Which I assume is 2024 week 10?
So I should update it with the "CW 48/2024"?

It would help if they kept the naming  and version numbers consistent

Over the air it updates only part of the whole European map, which in your case would mean most or all of the UK.  However, it is said that if you enter a far-off destination, such as Athens or Seville or Helsinki, and start route guidance, it will update all the mapping needed for the whole journey.

I last updated mine around 6 months ago and the current Navigation database is showing as 24.8.

The car had 1 year online map update from delivery, although I let that lapse when the car was one year old (March 2024).

The update process is cumbersome and there is no indication of installation progress .

Last time I left a memory stick containing the unzipped data plugged in for a few days and only became aware it was done when the version information changed after a few days.

Takes an eternity to download and subsequently unzip!

That should be October2024 not week 10.

Thanks for that.  I assumed week 10 as the update gave week/year (48/3024) rather than month year. It would help if they were consistent!

In which case, As I have an October 2024 database and this week 48 update is end of November, is it worth me updating the 29GB of maps, especially as I won't be taking the car out of the UK in the next 12 months?

Probably not, I would think.

Sorry for the silly questions, I have had Nissan's for the last 30 years, and they last over a decade, So a new 2024 Karoq is a bit of a jump in terminology, technology, and toys 🙂

I've had the map update in the port around a week now, USB stick flashes / remains on constant but no updated maps appearing - remains 24.10.

How long should it take, anyone?

24.10 would be the latest update for your car. So you are done. I find the update portal gives me, at most, 2 updates a year, with the second released around autumn. They stagger the releases based on VINs - my database shows 24-6 which I loaded in November.
