Skoda Connect

Featured Replies

AmI reading right from the app that Skoda Connect will only work till end of 2024 due to phasing out of 2g and 3g networks.

My reading of it is that it will shut down from 1 Jan 2026 (Telecoms companies) , but they (Skoda) will stop selling the remote access service etc on 31 Dec 2024. If you have a current licence it will function till it expires. Mine is due to expire in July 2025, what I don't know is if I renew it now does it extend to July 2026 (after the 3G network has shut down) or is my reduced price from £36 to £27 because it will stop working at the end of Dec 2025.

The renewal message says that my car doesn't support LTE and 5G networks, but some people have indicated that they do support LTE.

Confusing!!

I have a CarStick LTE which I bought and has never been used and is still in unopened packaging. . If anyone wants to buy it send me a message. Keith

The UK mobile companies will keep 2G going beyond 2024, they have agreed with the Government that it could be as late as 2033.

3G is another matter, Vodafone have turned off 3G already in much of the area where I live - BUT haven't yet provided 4G coverage so in many areas where I drive the only data coverage is Edge (2.75G) which is crazy slow.

The annoying thing is I still have 9 months paid subscription, car is 21 reg, surely then they'd owe refunds to paid subscriptions.

I'm going to wait and see what they intend to do about it. If the antenna is there then it could be as simple as doing a swap of simcards or updating the eSIM if it has one.

Following the dialogue in the linked thread, I emailed Škoda UK in an attempt to clarify the apparent contradiction of the shop alert and published documentation about the Mk4.

Škoda UK in turn referred me to the Connect Helpline with a .cz email address (so presumably at the factory). They have forwarded my enquiry to the “competent department” (which I assume to mean the ‘appropriate department’).

I await a response. When I get it, I will update the forum.

Not yet ☹️

I will chase them (again!)

This has all been cleared up as Skoda  have removed the warning about the service ending.
