VED - additional £400??

Featured Replies

Hello, another question I forgot to ask earlier.

A dealer I spoke to about a 73 plate SE‐L iV reckoned it would be subject to the new additional.£400 (so a total of £590) VED as it was over £40k

Is this right? Is this even possible? I think the car only had a couple of basic options added so I just cant see how it could get to that figure (which would be a deal breaker for me)

Thanks

If it was over £40,000 in 2023 it will carry the evt until 2028 (years 2 to 6)

Hello yes but were they really that expensive?

I do think it was possible with options . Was listed as up to £37,000 in reviews at the time.

Blimey, that's shocked me, so maybe the dealer is right?.. some nasty surprises then for someone....

lux car tax is at 40k.my iV SEL 23 plate with sunroof P11D value is under 40k. All depends on the options that were added. Think it would of only been the VRS over 40k as standard

I'd have thought so as well but the dealer was adamant the VED was £590.....

Hang on. I forgot I ordered mine 2 years earlier and it took forever to come. Possible the price was over 40k by 2023

VED is going through the roof, with max VED being £5490 in the first year of ownership, and an inflated VED of £600 for five years if your car is over £40,000 when purchased.

That seems a bit harsh, as inflation means £40K gets you a lot less than it used to a few years ago, but I suppose that's the point of inflation. It's the rising tide that catches everyone.

(Everyone without a clever accountant at least. )

My June 23 VRS with travel assist plus and winter pack with DCC, blind spot, winter pack and travel assist (2.2k worth of options) was under 40k. I suspect the dealer has made a mistake? Base was 37ish for the VRS. Dealer discounts / incentives don’t count against the RRP for VED.

I think there were quite a few options on the car which ended up just pushing it just  over £40k - expensive choices.....

Must have been a boatload of options as the base of the SE-L was about 33k in 23. Someone went mad spec’ing that one!

what engine / drive is it? Is it the AWD diesel? (If it was available)

No it was just an iV SE-L so yes, they must have ticked every box on the options list
