Cosmetic Suggestions

Featured Replies

Hey all, I currently own a Superb 150 SE L and have started to add my personal touch to the car. Having dechromed the front the grill, side window trims and roof rails, I was looking for possible suggestions as to what to do the car. I was possibly considering 'upbadging' the car and making it look like a sportline, with the vega wheels etc, but I am open to ideas.

P.s. A matte black front radar sensor is on its way

Hmm, can’t work out your badge if it’s black or not, if it isn’t then you could do. These badges are black but with the background of your paint colour, looks good on white cars

and rear superb wording in black

Then I would change wind mirrors to be black

BUT!! You will need to declare these mods including alloys to your insurance company, I had a hell of a time trying to explain to my insurance company about my want in changing the wing mirror covers to a different colour (business grey to hyper green) and I gave up on the end as they seemed thick as hell (probably need to revisit)

So might be worth ringing them up and see if they will continue to insure you or how much your insurance premiums will go up.

You could always just do it but run the risk of the insurance thieves seeing it as an easy way out should the worst happen, up to you ultimately

Plenty of things u could do cosmetics wise....

- black foglight surrounds

- front lip

- side skirts

- rear diffuser

- rear spoiler

- black wing mirror covers

Have a look in the Pictures thread - will give u plenty of ideas of wat others have done.

Hi,

Protection of the rear bumper as this one:

or this one:

Mud flaps? Quite useful on a white Estate. ;)

In addition to picture thread, you could have a look to VCDS modification list:

Look up ''h.l.n.t.r.e.t'' on Instagram. He's got a white estate with a lot of modifications so maybe you get some ideas looking at pictures of his car. :)

I recently bought Maxton's ''black foglight surrounds'' and am now wondering how to install them on my car because they didn't come with any sort of glue or tape. I've seen that a lot of superb owners put them on their car and I would like to ask if someone can help me and say how did they install on their car and what's the best option, tape or glue or something similair?

Thanks in advance if anyone sees this. :)

Yeah, I've changed the skoda emblem to black and white, as well as the rear lettering to gloss black. Figured I wouldn't tell insurance about the minor stick-on stuff like the emblems and lettering, but rather the bigger stuff like alloys since my insurance is already just under 3k😅

Might have to look at mudflaps as this car really likes to accumulate dirt behind the rear wheels.

VCDS is definetly an interesting shout, I need to do my research on what it's capable of and what I want out of it yet.

Just had a look in the picture thread, and there are some really nice builds in there, yours included. Definetly considering a sportline rear spoiler with a Maxton spoiler extender as well and maybe some black fog light surrounds.

h.l.n.t.r.e.t has a really nice example, but wayyy out of budget😂😂. Few interesting things about his car is the black handles and black roof leading into a black spoiler. Something to consider

unfortunately i haven't heard good things in the past about the Maxton foglight surrounds.

usually poor fit (contour with the bumper) and/or no way to mount/stick them....the later being ur case.

i bought mine 5 yrs ago from AliExpress - it came with 3M strips already mounted on the back of it, hence simply unpeel and stick on the bumper.

fitment is on point and its still holding up strong, nor has it lost any gloss/shine.

£3k for insurance? Jeez!

I might just stick with my current insurance company, I got in a grump because it’s going up £40 this year to £320

Guessing you’re a relatively new driver?

Ahh what i wouldnt give to have my insurance under £500. I suppose insurance don't like 20 year old with 2.0L, especially from the west Midlands. Just a waiting game now to build up some NCD

Dirty buggers

My first car was a K reg Audi 100 (year or so later got renamed to A6) and my insurance then was like £800 20 years ago or so and I was 19 ish, but I remember looking a Peugeot 306’s and was double what my 2l Audi was to insure.

But yeah when you change alloys deffo declare it, it “shouldn’t” increase it by anything in theory especially if you get OE ones but make sure you tell them it’s genuine Škoda Superb alloys, just different style

I have a white estate too and would love to black out all the chrome. Did you wrap or paint them? or buy OEM parts?

I think I´ve seen covering kits on Ali…

This should be the cheapest option.

I mostly wrapped them with some 'Chrome delete' wrap off amazon. Used it on the front upper amd lower grill as well as the side window trims. For the side rear window trims, I used a large gloss black vinyl wrap as the corner was really tricky to wrap in one piece with the curve. As for the roof rails, I swapped them for some cheap gloss black OEM ones I found online.

All in all, this really helped elevate the looks of the car

Thanks. Not done wrapping stuff before and not sure I would achieve such a new look. Looks beautiful.

Neither had I, until I did this. Grabbed my mother's hair dryer, my dad's extension cord, and used a sharp Stanley knife and took my time with it. Always worth a shot and you might learn a few things on the way.

  • 4 weeks later...

I've ordered black badges, roof rails, black grill surround and the lower grill trim from ebay. Black radar cover is also available for about £30. Will look to get window chrome wrapped. Possibly get full roof panel wrapped black too as that looks really smart.

With regards to VCDS and coding things, I use the app Carscanner Pro (£8), and a £22 OBD module from Amazon (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XGB4873) . All in £30 and can do everything that VCDS can so far.
