Flat battery yesterday

Happened again today. Must be something to do with the DC to DC converter circuitry as it still had 9% hybrid battery left. Also if I leave the ignition on it doesnt seem to happen. But if I sit in the car with the ignition off for any length of time or even have it unlocked messing about in the boot for a while or whatever it just dies. Seems like a terrible flaw in the circuitry design.

Sorry, Mr McCririck, I can't help, only sympathise with you. I have had four years of having to tolerate this crap. A very weak 12v battery that is likely to let me down at any time. So much so that w

  • No, not only for the systems in the cabin; there are plenty of relays and low-voltage components powered by the 12V battery.    Unfortunately there's no scenario which allows the HV battery t

Just a reminder, the car can't charge 12V battery from HV battery. So there's no connection between two.

Have others not said that there is? What does the DC to DC converter do?

Charges 12V battery when HV is charged, supplies power to 12V system from HV when ignition is on. When ignition is off, no amount of power in HV saves you from flat 12V.
When I had issues with 12V that was my question why the hell HV can't charge 12V on its own. Later I learned that many, if not all EVs have the same issue.

I see. So basically always have ignition on when not driving? This seems a very silly design flaw. Also the 12V battery low warning is not reliable as it has never warned me before it's gone flat.

No. Correct conclusion is identifying and fixing your problem which kills 12V. Sorry can't help with that, you'd need to look for competent techs and maybe involve Skoda to get it resolved.

Yes it's booked in at a Skoda dealer again. I'm just tryinmg to understand the problem. In the mean time I'll keep the ignition on.
