Headlight condensation

Featured Replies

2010 L&K Octavia Estate. Nearside Xenon headlight condensation. I've tried the hot air method and leaving the lights on for a while but still have condensation. I bought a unit on Ebay but it's halogen, is it possible to change the glass over?

Thanks

NO! Xenons and halogens use different lenses and reflectors! So your ides will give you mismatched headlights side to side.

Thanks, Paws4Thot. According to Chatgpt, it is possible to swap things over, but it's way too complicated for me. I'm going to bring the headlight indoors overnight to warm it up and see if the condensation clears then see if I can get some silica gel packets in.

I've got a sweaty offside headlamp, I have brought it inside and dried it out before but it's just got damp again.

I think I'm going to dry it out again, and blow into it while spraying the joint with some soapy water to see where the moisture is sneaking in, then try and seal it with some silicon sealer.

I have the same on my 12 plate. Tried all the usual methods but now seems to be both headlights. Was thinking of using the windscreen seek and seal. Reckon taking headlights out and bringing them indoors in a warm room till they dry and then use the sealant.

I’ve got the same issue on my MK2 FL Octavia.

Do the white vents on the rear of the headlight actually open? I have blasted them with compressed air but it looks like there is a screw head in there.

I noticed when I bought the car the main rubber cap on the back of the headlight wasn’t on properly.  I reckon that was to enhance airflow as with it fully closed it fogs up quickly.
