Service Plan - All in ... good value?

Featured Replies

Hello :)

I'm about to take delivery of my new Kodiaq. I'm looking at the Service Plans and the "All in" caught my eye. £38 a month gives me all this for 2 years but does it represent good value for money?

  • 1 x Oil and Inspection Service
  • 1 x Oil and Inspection Extended Scope
  • 2 x MOT
  • 2 Years Roadside Assistance
  • 2 years Extended Warranty
  • 1 x Pollen Filter replacement
  • 1 x Air Filter replacement
  • 1 x Spark Plug / Fuel Filter

Quick maths time!

£38 x 24 = £912.00.

2 services @ avg. £250 = £500

2 MOT = £100

2 years' roadside assistance = £200

Other parts = £100, to be generous

That's £900, before you factor in the warranty. So I'd suggest it's not /bad/ value for money. Whether or not it's /good/ value for money, or just a ploy to make sure you take your car back to a main dealer for servicing, is up to you.

Thanks Yogi!

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't about to over pay for something :)

What you get is maybe worth it as far as Warranty, and some servicing.

But the Brakes need serviced, brake fluid changed, haldex and DSG need servicing.  About £300, £120, & £70.

Good if the Pollen Filter and Air filter do get replaced. But be sure they do do them. 1 or each, and a fuel filter.

Yeah I am aware of the DGS, Break Fluid etc being outside of the scope of the service plan. I'd do the breaks myself (if it won't void the warranty?) . I am also aware that they dont' clean the filter/pump when doing the hadlex so i'll need to get that done too.

@robdav

Is it a 2021 car you are getting? Or have you got that now.

If it has a Full Service History then does the History show the Brake Fluid and Haldex serviced already or is it a history of stuff overdue?

I purchased the car on Saturday and yes it's a 2021 plate. The dealer is just organising delivery over the next couple of days.

I have a copy of the service record which reads:

  1. Oil change service @ 14534 miles on 22/12/2022

  2. Inspection with Oil Change @ 20923 on 12/12/2023
    O6F8 completed at 20923 on 12/12/203 <<<<<  what is an O6F8 ???

  3. Inspection with Oil Change @ 26653 on 10/12/2024

so all in all she's had 3 oil changes and whatever an O6F8 is

Recall / Service Campaign, probably.

I'd suggest the Haldex is overdue - that should have been done at 3 years. The DSG is 4 years.

If a Skoda Approved Used car and they are putting a Warranty on it the Haldex should be done @ 3 years / 30,000 miles, and if not done should be getting done.

If a DQ381 the DSG is at 80,000 miles or sooner.  A DQ500 @ 40,000 miles.

There is no DSG servicing by year, not 4 or 8 unless the car has done the miles.

The DQ381 should have the filter replaced.

The table in your previous post is rather misleading then - clearly states x miles or y years, and has DSG oil listed each 40k miles or 4 years.

How can I tell if my car has a DQ381?

@Yogi-Bear  Skoda / VW Group can be very confusing. so much so that the Customer Services Contractors and even Employees in Main Dealers have not a clue even if they work there full time and there job is all about Skodas.

That is just how it is. Best sometimes to ask the Cleaners as they know more and hear all the duff stuff Service Desk staff tell customers.

It is very good value for money, as long as you know the warranty does not cover software updates, water ingress investigation and body work trims etc. Also the servicing does not cover air-conditioning, haldex or DSG oil changes.

Service desk staff I have dealt with are accredited Skoda people, and while not necessarily "technical" have enthusiasm and an understanding for the brand.

Thanks everyone. I'll purchase the service plan and get the hadlex serviced in the next couple of weeks just to be on the safe side.

@Greenmonster  That is good.

None there will be telling you that 0.5 litres of oil used in 621 miles is ok for a 1.4 TSI Twincharger CTHE engined vRS then.

Has you car needed and had Service Campaign '34H5' carried out on your DQ200 DSG?

http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-campaigns

What does  Skoda Accredited mean?

On job training and training on Up-selling , keyboard and communications skills and they know how to phone a friend or ask another accredited member of staff with no technical knowledge or Training / qualifications in Mechanical Engineering.

SIMPSONS SKODA needed to sort or Staff and the lack of knowledge that many demonstrated over the years.

The Boss used to come on Briskoda but really made a bit of a t!t of himself because someplace down the line the management was the issue at the Dealerships.

A correction to the handbook. From what I recall of the conversation with the service manager, they literally cross out, or change a few words. I've not looked to see what they actually did.

I have an All-In package and in my opinion it's decent value for money and spreads the cost. The only negative I found was that restrictions on when the policy can be activated, following the manufacturer warranty, meant that I couldn't align the date of MOT with the service, which either means two visits to the service centre, or I forego one of the included MOTs and get it done locally.

ah ha ! so that's what it is. I noticed in the hand book some changes that were written in and also a dealer stamp on one of the pages.

Just took delivery of the car this afternoon and purchased the all-in pack too :)

How can I tell which DSG box mine has in please mate?

@krazylegz1 Saying it was a 1.5 TSI Edition might have someone able to tell you what it is.

Is it a FWD or a AWD ?

An AWD will be a DQ381 7 speed wet clutch DSG. I do not know if they used DQ200 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch ones with a FWD.

I was surprised and a bit annoyed that the all-in service plan didn't include the air filter ("additional chargeable option") so decided I'd do it myself. Part about £7 on Ebay and it can surely only be a two minute job...

Well it was - until the Torx bit fell out of its holder after tightening the last screw, and is somewhere on the plastic shield at the bottom of the engine bay. Spent ages trying to spot it but gave up.

The air filter is part of the All-in-1 plan - they changed it when my car was serviced last month.

Where does it say additional chargeable option? If you look at the current Skoda service plan on VWFS website:

As it says, 2 services, 1 air filter. This was the second service and it wasn't included.

Sorry, just revisiting this.

Yes, 2 services, 1 air filter... It's only scheduled to be replaed every 2nd yr. Did you think it was supposed to be changed every service?
