Retrofit mirror USB

Featured Replies

Just took delivery of my pre-registered mk4 Octy and it turns out it has no USB port on the rearview mirror. I can see where it would go, but the hole has a plastic blind piece instead of a port. Is there any chance I will find a connecting wire inside if I take the plastic off, or will I have to route a new wire from the fuse box to put in my dashcam?

Hi,

You need to route a new wire and you also need some other parts to make this retrofit. I have attached a DIY manual for this. It is in German language. But I guess you can use a google translate to make it work.

I know the other guy has attached a link but do not just run a 12 volt feed from the fuse box, as USB is 5 volts !

😊 Thanks. I have a 12-to-5V transformer from my previous vehicle I might use if it fits inside the cover. Thanks @TheUltraRunner for the link!
