Do all Karoqs have an electric boots?

Featured Replies

Hi, I just picked up my new Karoq SE L yesterday after waiting patiently for it to arrive in the uk and I absolutely love it. But the thing is the boot isn’t lifting when Clicking the middle button on the key or with the virtual pedal so I got in touch with the sales man at Skoda who told me my car doesn’t have an electric boot, but I was under the impression that all Karoq SE L’s came with an electric boot and virtual pedal. I was wondering if I had been given the wrong car maybe a SE because the MySkoda app is saying my trim level is SE edition. Should it not say SE L edition? Or is it a glitch? All my paperwork says Skoda Karoq SE L but the boot and app don’t add up.

Thank you.

Mines a 2025 Karoq I wonder what’s happened there then. Do you think I might have been given an SE? I’m not sure as this is my first Skoda. Would there be any way for me to tell by looking at the car? Because my paper does say it’s an SE L, and it’s also saying it’s an SE L with an online car reg checker, so I wonder what’s happened as to why my Karoq doesn’t have an electric boot.

thanks for your reply.

The myskoda app gives you access to the cars spec in "inspect" - "car details" - "digital certificate" where you should see Trim designation and features that it was built with.

If you Bought an SE L and have an SE the dealer needs to sort it out surely?

It could be that you have a last of line 'SEL' model and not the latest 'SEL Edition' model, from what you say your paper does suggest you have an SEL and not a SEL Edition. The SE has 17" wheels, the SEL 18" wheels as standard - probably the easiest thing for you to check.

No I mean on the MySkoda app it’s saying trim level SE edition, shouldn’t it at least say trim level SE L, I’ve never had a Skoda before so I don’t really know what I’m looking for I’ve done a few searches but I’m getting nowhere on google. I might need to take it to a dealership.

It’s just the MySkoda app saying my car is trim level SE edition thats making things even more confusing. I might take it to a dealership to check I’m sure it should have an electric boots though. I really love this car but Nothings making sense with it with the boot and app situation.

SE edition and SE L  Edition are two different trims.

As are SE and SEL without the word edition

It would all depend upon what you ordered and when.

Does it have adaptive Cruise control? and like @cnc says how big are the wheels?

But the above are what can be ordered today

As suggested earlier have you checked the wheel size?

There are several easy ways to tell if you have either a pre edition version of SE or SEL as below

SE Drive had black roof rails -  SEL had chrome roof rails (this is the most obvious identification method)

SE Drive had 17" alloys - SEL had 18" alloys

SE Drive had cloth seats - SEL had microfibre seats

It does not matter that your car was registered in 2025, the more important thing is when it was built (not always easy to tell). I very much suspect you have one of the latter SEL's  (rather than SEL edition) so missed out on any "edition" upgrades

An easy way to tell if you have an SEL edition is if it has the following - Infotainment screen with no rotary controls, Adaptive cruise control (marked distance -/+ on top of lower left stalk) and of course electric boot

It was built in 2024 but registered in 2025.

Yes they’re measuring at 18” but I read that SE’s also have 18” and SE drive has 17”

Something else to check are the boot struts, the traditional thin type are manual boot open/close, the thicker diameter type are for the powered boot open/close.

With only collecting yesterday I’m not sure about the adaptive cruise control, how do I check for this please? The wheels are measuring at 18” it was built in 2024 and registered in 2025.

I am certain that virtual pedal boot has never been standard spec on pre edition SEL's - I believe that either that advert is inaccurate or the virtual pedal boot was added as an option

Oh ok I read it in the book that came with the car with instructions on how to use the virtual pedal maybe it’s an option then.

You can only check for acc by trying to use it in my enyaq. I have all the right controls but i don't have it. Display says "ACC unavailable" when selected. I can buy it in the car for £329

The adaptive cruise control stalk has the word 'distance' on it like this:

Ok thanks I’ll give that a try if it works would that determine if it’s a SE L?

You definitely have an SEL then (sounds like app is incorrect for some reason) but I suspect you missed out on the SEL Edition   - the link below is for an SEL edition so you can see some of the upgrades - page 3 of interior photos show interior boot release on side of door tray/pocket and page 9 shows the ACC  distance -/+ controls and page 15 shows the boot open/close button on the rear hatch

Black SKODA Karoq 1.5 TSI ACT SE L Edition Euro 6 (s/s) 5dr for sale for £32,490 in Norwich, Norfolk
