Heated Mirrors

Featured Replies

My 2021 Octavia SE Technology (PHEV) has the indicator for the heated wing mirrors on the mirror controls, but I can't get them to turn on. Are the heated mirrors standard across the range or just on some models, which does not include mine?

What do you mean by you can't get them to turn on? Can you physically turn knob? If so do they not get warm?

If I follow the instructions to turn on the mirror heating, nothing happens - the indicator light does not change and the mirrors don't warm up.

What light? As far as I know there is no indication light for heated mirrors. And how did you check the warmth of the mirrors? The best way to check if they work or not is to give them a couple of breath blows so they fog up. And then turn the heating on.

There is no light, just turn the knob to the heating symbol and they should get slightly warm to the touch

On the door mirror control turn the knob to the mirror heater and it should come on.

Hi, did u solve this issue?

Yes, I needed to turn the knob all the way round to the mirror heater symbol. There is no other indication that it is working, but the mist clears.

In my previous car (Ibiza 2016), the heated mirrors would automatically turn on whenever I activated the rear window defroster, even if the mirror control knob stayed in the central position. In the Octavia, however, this doesn’t seem to happen, the mirrors only heat up when I physically turn the knob. Aren’t they supposed to activate together with the rear window heating?

No, Skoda have always done it this way - different to the rest of the VAG group!

Ahh Allright. Do you know if it is possible to maybe activate or change through OBDeleven for example?

Never found any way to change it, before I had Skodas I had Audis so I too was puzzled at first when the mirrors didn't heat with the rear window.

I find I often leave the mirror switch in the heat position, which also means the dip on reverse doesn't work (as the mirror switch has to be in the nearside position for that to work).

The mk1 Fabia vRS and possibly the mk1 Octy and mk1 Superb had mirrors which were permanently heated unless you selected a mirror to adjust it.

It’s a more recent thing that Skoda have done rather than them always doing it. 😉👍🏼

Here’s the joystick from the mk1 Fabia vRS which is the same as was in both our mk1 vRSs.

@MaxvdP , You can try the below coding:

Controller 42 – Driver Door - Long coding

Rear_window_heater_trigger

not active ---change to-> active

Controller 52 - Passenger Door - Long coding

Rear_window_heater_trigger

not active ---change to-> active

The key point is that Skoda have always had the heated mirrors controlled by the mirror switch not the heated rear window switch.

I might try that fix as suggested by @MaxvdP on my Polo, every VW I've ever owned had to have the mirror heating switched on in order to work, a pain to remember to switch off, some say the heating elements burn out if left permanently on, I had a Bora driven by myself for 10 years and I used to switch them off regularly but my daughter drove that car for another 12 years with, I would think, the mirror heating permanentl on but the drivers side was definitely demisting on the day I drove the car to the VW dealer to get the scrappage offer.
