Octavia VRS 2016 4x4 broken Rear Diff

Featured Replies

Hi

My beloved Octavia has just come back from Midland VW with a terrible prognosis, The rear diff is screwed. The cars unmodified and has only done 59k. I have had it 4 years done just under 30k mostly on the motorway. full main dealer service history and ibex service. they have just confirmed what i already suspected its making all the right noises so i have no reason to question them.

They have provided me with a part number of 0CQ 525 010 S for a replacement which is an update from the one on the car. they are happy to fit if i supply.

i think the only option i have is to look at a recon. i am not keen on ordering off ebay so i was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction or offer any other suggestions.

Welcome.

Sad to hear. Certain it is the rear Diif. Midland VW tech should know. What did they price the job / part at?

?

FMDSH really does not mean the Haldex serviced correctly. When was that done?

Invoice show as done.

It should have been twice by 59,000 miles.

Plenty others have experienced a Main Dealer Tech draining the wrong oil when servicing the Haldex.

Someone will be along with advice.

There is some reading from others experiences if you search.

its already been to my trusted local garage over the rear end noise. we replaced the tyres and it was a lot quieter. but then i could hear the whirring noise at 35 and 70mph its got worse over about 300 miles. They have had the stethoscope on it.

i had the haldex service done @ about 35k. it went just for that specifically. i took ownership at 31k and it should have been done at 30 so i wanted to make sure it was done.

Lol yeah i`ve read a few threads eh!

And you sure that whole diff needs replacement and not just the bearing?

A lot cheaper to do bearing than whole diff...

4x4 Parte - Haldex rear differential repair kit 2..4. and...

Set of bearings / repair kit for the rear differential with haldex coupling of 2nd, 4th and 5th generations of VW Group vehicles.

Done this repair myself and it is not difficult. Did not do the pinion gear, but that is often not the problem.
