Skoda Fabia mk3 2015 - Android Auto Upgrade?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I'm new to the forum and although I've seen similar posts I wanted to get a definitive answer to my questions.

I am in the market for a Skoda Fabia Estate, my budget mostly consists of the earlier 2015 and 2016 models. I would like to know if the existing Bolero system can be upgraded to have Android Auto connectivity? If so, is it the screen unit that needs replacing or the multimedia head unit in the glove box? I would also be interested in the cost associated with the upgrade. I'm UK based.

Thanks in advance 🙂

Bolero MY15 can't, must be retrofitted

Bolero MY16 part numbers 5Q0035819A and 5Q0035820A can't, must be retrofitted, but 5Q0035840A and 5Q0035842A can have it simply activated

General rule is none 5Q0035840, 5Q0035842, 5Q0035819x and 5Q0035820x can't have Android Auto activated (x - any letter, can be missing) and therefore must be retrofitted (only infotainment reader required retrofitting, display unit can remain).

Thank you so much for your response.

So if I were to purchase one of the compatible units, is it a simple plug and play or does it need to be programmed to the vehicle? Any additional wires/accessories etc?

Check if the car ( s ) you are interested in has the Bolero system in it.

On the Bolero system under menu is there the Android auto icon?

If so you just need a compatible Android phone with Android Auto on it.

From factory build week 22 of 2015 should be good. This is not first registration date of the car.
