Poor Service from Skoda

Featured Replies

I have used Telfords Skoda in Carlisle (nearest one) and the service had so far is very poor.

The car went in for a check some time ago (February) and they checked a vibration by the gear lever. Nothing found.

Well anyway, the rear seats have several 'creases' (as lots of you have had) and the 10k service was due.

They took 5 months to get the covers. Incidentally, I sent an email to Skoda UK Customer Service as a complaint about the wait and magically, 2 days later, they contacted me to tell me they were in and ready to be fitted. ;)

I booked the car in, arranged a courtesy car (which had no water in the washers and was dirty inside).

I asked them also to fit a new centre cap for the rear wiper as it had 'fell off'.

I spoke to the Service Manager as well and he assured me all would be sorted.

When I picked the car up (100 mile return journey) I found that the cover was very much worse than before (polite as i don't swear) and there was 2 dirty hand prints on the headrest.

Even the seat belt was trapped behind the anchor for the seat.

The centre cap for the wiper was not fitted as well.

They have again assured me to sort things out and ordered a new cushion and cover. I just know that this whole thing is a disaster in the making. Thank God I didn't get the new dashboard fitted.

I've taken this pretty well as I am used to crap service from my Renault before but did not expect it from Skoda.

Sure, this may be an isolated dealer, but any survey that asks me what I think of Skoda service and they get a resounding thumbs down. :thumbdwn:

Unimpressed.

Seems like par for the course - My dealer has just told me that they no longer wish to have anything to do with me! My crime .........

Complaining when they didn't even apolofise for keeping me waiting for nearly 1 hour to take my car in for a service and then questioning why they were ripping their customers off by charging top dollar for VW PD oil in 1 litre bottles and then using Quantum PD oil out of a large drum.

Are there any good dealers out there?

PS if the dealers were a fraction as good as the cars they'd be fantastic!

:thumbdwn:

Ive now learned to only take the car back to the dealers as a last resort. Its like going to the doctor...go in to get one thing sorted, you come out with other problems.

Oh **** Dave I wish you had`nt used that example ..... after

not seeing a Doctor since 1998 I was thinking about booking

an appointment for a Blood pressure & colestral ? check

next week while on holiday :( especially as I have just turned 60...

still I did get my government winter fuel allowance form this week

and I can apply for a free bus pass :D

Hmm well I went to a VW dealer and had no trouble with their service ;)

IMHO it just depends on how a particular dealership deals with their servicing etc. So Renault dealers are terrifyingly cr*p, others are absolutely excellent.

It isn't related to the brand alone I suppose is the point I'm trying to make.

I've had my car serviced at two dealerships nearby and both were mostly fine. Certainly friendly and all that, had some grief with both on the xenon height (kept getting reset to FAR too low, had to go back in to sort it).

The main reason I've switched to a different place (VW dealership as it happens) was cost. It was cheaper for me to drive 100 miles for the 40k service and have a day out with SWMBO then to go 'local'. I may have gone for the dealership nearby otherwise, hard to say :)

Definitely sounds like you want that dealership to sort out the problem(s) you're having though & then find a different one. That's much worse than I experienced in Newbury/Oxford Skoda dealerships, who also valeted the car etc and kept me informed of progress etc.

Simpsons @ Colne is about as far isnt it Jon? Tell the Carlise dealer to 'stuff it' and go there instead

Welcome to the 'new' Skoda regime. Replacing the old family dealers who built a foundation of good service which Skoda was rightly known for, with the shiny new dealers who can afford the new corporate steel and glass edifices, but **** all over the customer to make money.

My local dealer is/was a VW dealership so all the prices and services are quoted for VW cars. Service was excellent and prices were normal Skoda quoted prices for the majority of services, although they came in well above the other local dealer for the 60k cambelt service....

I noticed this when my wife brought her car home from its first service a couple of weeks ago - oil had been charged per litre bottle when surely they must just draw it from a drum.

What really concerned me though was that the cost of the service was only

Ive used Telfords in Carlisle on several occasions, they can be a bit tempremental, but on the whole the service is good, I think the service manager is called Mark, and have always found him very helpful!!

Yeah it is. He seemed like he was sorted over the phone but seemed to talk the talk and when it came to walking the walk, tripped and fell at the first. Not the first time either.

Simpsons are good.

My local one is absolute ****. Bunch of car-ruining, problem misdiagnosing, lying monkeys.

Glad to hear Simpsons are good, i've ordered my car from there and thats where i'll get it serviced too....as long as they're upto scratch.

ok, this is worrying me! I currently go to Bickertons in Sheffield, and they have been very good. I'm moving up to Cumbria in the near future, so would like to find a good Skoda garage up there? any positive reccomendations?!?

Am afraid I totally agree about Telfords, stopped using them 2 years ago, I could list the issues I've had with them, but I haven't got time!

Am using Simpons in Preston, on the whole they do a good job, but then again I am prone to the odd whinge.

Holy old thread revival Batman

Robinsons in Norwich are excellent, as are ALS Lock near Ely. Chequered Flag are very, very, poor and don't get me started on Vindis Skoda - I think they lasted about 6 months!

I am not naming my dealer but I had similar experiences plus a bad attitude. However when my car blew it's turbo out of warranty in Devon Murray Skoda of Newton Abbott not only backed me to the hilt in pursuing a goodwill claim but were genuinely nice to deal with too and in the end I was successful (£300 labour cost only) I said my next Skoda will be bought from them. Skoda UK if you get past the call centre muppets to someone in authority.

Skoda is very aware of its customer loyalty and as a rule tries to look after it's customers. Skoda Auto in the Czech Republic especially so. If you are not happy about your dealer it's worth emailing Skoda via the website and telling them about it.

Benfield skoda in Harrogate are top notch. Nothing seems to be much trouble. The wife's car is on Free servicing and the remainder of the oil was given to us as a top up. (Quantum Premium ) Car also hoovered and washed and ready on time.

oops, that was one hell of a thread revival, I feel I must apologise forthwith, but really, what harm is it causing?

Don't worry about it mate, its relevant so 'exhume' all you like. Its interesting to see the dealers are still as bad now as they were in 2006!! Not to mention Skoda UK...........I emailed them a week ago and am still awaiting a reply..................

Apart from the mickey-taking salesmen! Servicing might be better, but it's a bit far for me even though my local dealer is totally useless.
