Driving Score in MySkoda App

There's also (and perhaps for people in the UK most important) the Information Commissioner's Office which has the legal clout to enforce data misuse. Their complaints page is at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/data-protection-complaints/

They say,

In order to use this you will need:

  • an email address for the organisation;

  • a copy of the complaint you made to the organisation about how they have handled your personal information; and

  • (if you are complaining for someone else) a letter of consent from the person the complaint is about.

It's helpful if you can also provide:

  • the organisation's address;

  • a timeline of key events related to your complaint;

  • any supporting information you have about the mishandling of your personal information eg a copy of an email where your information was shared, a copy of records with inaccurate information, an apology letter from the organisation, or other email exchanges.

    Had an email response from Škoda Support - I had queried how to opt out. The original FAQs said through the App... I couldn't find anywhere in the App to do so. Today's email told me it was in the

Same here, these are great news.
Make sure to object to data processing to their DPO for these kind of things if it is important to you that Skoda do not profile you like this.

This afternoon (5 June) my iPhone updated the MyKpoda app to version 8.3.0 and the Driving Score function has been removed without explanation. I checked my Android tablet and, yep! It's gone from there as well. On the Skoda website (skoda-auto-com) the page that used to esplain about the Driving Score function (https://www.skoda-auto.com/connectivity/driving-score) no longer exists, giving a 404-error.

This can mean one of two things. 1) That, after criticism, the car's monitoring function has been removed; 2) Simply that I can no longer see what score Skoda is still recording about me. I am afraid that the "spy in the passenger seat" has just gone hidden. This might be the worst of the possible outcomes: me in the dark and Skoda selling my data to insurance companies? Has anybody had any solid information about the Driving Score's withdrawal?

Power to the people

Beware Skoda are watching on here?

My fear as HenPen commented is that the details are still being collected and sold but we cannot see this

Big Brother is still watching

2024 Superb and Driving Score has been removed from my app as well.

Just had a look in the MyŠkoda app on my iPhone (prior to updating it) so still 8.2.0. Driving score has gone. There is a v8.3.0 to install tonight.

Also I had a reply from the DPO office; seems my email has got them thinking! An extract from their reply "... due date on your request has been extended due to the complexity of your request ..."

Let's hope they really are taking it seriously.

@HenPen makes a good point. Just 'cos we can't see the data doesn't mean it's not being collected. Perhaps a subject access request to the DPO is also called for.

Typical, just did a very long overnight journey and wanted to see how that impacted the score.

I've no doubt that Skoda are still collecting all that data, as will most (all?) modern connected vehicles, it's the clarity of the end purpose that needs to be addressed.

The little black box in VAG cars records all sorts of stuff and can be read by a dealer . We dont have internet connection but sure as god it will be getting recorded in the car.. my Tiguan will be interesting reading with about 35 OBDELEVEN mods done to it including some VW said arent possible LOL

While this can be switched off by setting the car to private, this also negates the benefit of the breakdown call and other vehicle location requirements.

I am very pleased to see that this has been switched off by Skoda.

It would be interesting to know if the feature was solely a Skoda thing or if it was/is included in the VW, Audi, Seat, Cupra mobile apps too. If it is used by the other marques have they also pulled it?

As others have said, chances are that they are still profiling you, just not showing it anymore.
