Infotainment/cruise/smartlink

Featured Replies

Im a new owner of a 2021 Mk4 hybrid.

Have now got 2 keys after spendibg almost £300 as could not log in as owner with 1 key.

Now that im in and on the app I cannot access SmartLink or Satnav and cruise control isnt on menu.

Dealer says mine cannot have access to SmartLink.

Any ideas?

AIUI all Mk4 Octavia’s have SmartLink capability (for CarPlay, Android Auto). I think some early builds needed a cable connection for Android Auto).

Which spec level is yours (SE, SEL, …) not that is should make any difference.

I had very much the same, as well as a lengthy delay getting 2nd Key. Required another visit to Skoda after getting 2nd Key for their tech to activate/reactivate the modules to get Smart link, Nav, Cruise Control and Hybrid Mode selection functions to work.

Was a simply job once they knew what to do, but getting them to admit the car, as sold, should have those features might be a challenge.

What is the infotainment software version? If it is below 1941 jt should be updated.

I have a 2021 PHEV and Smartlink supports android auto by cable.

You need to update the software from 1803 to at least 1941. There are instructions on this board for doing this, or it needs to be done by a dealer. If it was an official used Skoda insist that the dealer does this FOC as part of the promised upgrade of all software. Once it is on 1941 it will update to 1985 OTA.

Once you are on the latest software smart link should work. I had to insist that the dealer applied the software update to get navigation to work correctly. I never even got to try smart link on the older software.

There is/was loads of weird $%@! going on with the infotainment system in the early builds of the mk4 Octavias. In my 2020 build the satnav, smart link (CarPlay and AA) and cruise control worked fine (except left- / right- hand drive confusion) on Infotainment version 16xx. Currently on 1941 all updates by the dealer under warranty - but no OTA updates beyond that 🤷‍♂️

But yes, if it's an approved used car from Škoda, the dealer should have updated ALL s/ware to the latest versions before sale.

Thanks for this.

Not bought from a skoda dealer but am in conversation with one to try to get to the bottom of the issues.

Cheers all

Update: been to dealer who wanted to see the car and understand the issue. It transpires that my phone is not compatible with smart link, since looked on Skoda website and this appears to be true. I have Samsung A15 .

Am getting it diagnosed by them at end of July regarding other issues, delay due to holidays.

I've got a Samsung A15 and as far as I'm aware it has access to Smartlinlk

According to Skoda website only certain models are compatible see picture.

Ok, what exactly is Smartlink? I'm able to access Android Auto on my phone from the car and Google Maps/Waze and play music etc from BBC Sounds or MP3 files on the phone. What else would I get on Smartlink?

Smartlink is the generic name used by Skoda for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

But according to the documentation produced by @Alanj28 my A15 isn't compatible with Smartlink.

According to the VAG documentation I haven't had a compatible phone for many years, but they've always worked!

The documentation isn't a priority for them to keep it up-to-date so I wouldn't take any notice of it - just user experience what matters, and I would be very surprised if the A15 isn't compatible in reality.
