Hey All,

I was wondering how much is a fair price to pay for a Major 120,000km service on my superb 162tsi. i am in australia and i have been quoted around $1500-$2200

Thanks

Whats included in that.

If it includes a timing belt that on its own is over $1200 In AUS. At least my Passat cost me that .

Will also include a DSG service and tranny oil is expensive

If water pump hasnt been done and they do the belt, would be wise to get it done at the same time to save redoing it all again.

Take note Im not sure if your car has a belt or a chain but if a chain tensioners should be done so costs will be similar

that's quite broad, and high!!

i'm in australia too, ACT, and i've got my Superb 162TSi booked in next month for the 120k service.

quote is approx. $1100.

includes DSG servicing.

this is at a European garage, not Skoda dealership servicing.

Well i hope they use the correct oil as some boxes use 6L and its over $100 a L Also belts are supposed to be done at 7 years or 105,000km so check if its already been done.. My Daughter just bought a 2016 Tiguan and belt was done at 124000 according to the sticker so be careful. Op should ask for a detailed description of what they are going to do if hes unsure

I was quoted $1,799 by a European workshop The quote includes:

  • Engine oil and oil filter

  • DSG service

  • Brake fluid replacement

  • Air filter

  • Pollen filter

They also mentioned that spark plugs would be an additional $400.

As far as I know, the water pump hasn’t been replaced yet and the car currently has 130,000 km on it.

I just checked my local skoda dealer's website and they are charging around $950 but didn't mention what they include im assuming No DSG service?.

Sounds in the ball park If it was mine I would get them to check the belt or Chain as well as the pump

Hmm i used them once Never again Mainly used by places short of work and thats usually for a reason. A bit like using Airtasker or Hipages Very similar to Lotto Buy a ticket and take your chances. VAG cars require specific oils and methods of filling gearboxes etc and some backstreet dump probably hasnt got a clue.. Just like the transmission "expert" I went to in Adelaide once for a service on my Landcruiser. Put wrong oil in gearbox and vastly overfilled it and cost me another $500 to get it redone. I only use garages that understand VAG work

As far as Cambelts i would check the latest VW / Skoda recommendations, guidelines, advice or schedule for Australia and the particular engine. If considered a Dust Rich or non Dust Rich Region & if anything like the same regime as for Europe now, or different because of longer Warranty periods in Australia.

(TSI different from a TDI as far as doing a water pump at the same time as a belt.)

Which Wet Clutch DSG is it, is it a DQ381, if so i hope they are changing the filter and not just the oil.

Check.

$400 for spark plugs replaced at the time of a service, are they having a laugh and treating it as though a V8!

@Exkiwi - the 220 (162TSi) does not require a belt change.

yes they (VAG workshop) only uses genuine oils/fluids, according to the needs of the DQ250, which the 162TSi uses.

@ThatBlueSuperb - i had my brake pads and discs replaced (with aftermarket dba) last year, so i don't need a brake fluid flush.

i have an aftermarket air-intake (Racingline r600), so they don't need to replace the air filter.

i had my spark plugs changed at the 105k service, so no need to change them now.

VW use FULL SYNTHETIC Castrol 5 W 30 LL or A3 B4 if you want to save money

Penrite Enviro+ Full synthetic is what I always used and supplied it myself as I bought it when on special
