Is this a scam, or a VWFS muck up?

Featured Replies

Got an email, out of the blue, apparently from VWFS, offering a service plan. No problem, as had the last of my two free services, so expecting something like this. (Dealer only offered one discounted service).

However, reading through the attachment (all professional and correct looking), I noticed an error, where they had printed the same paragraph twice (Expert Care).

Had to print it and then scan relevant part (over two pages!).

Not sure VWFS would send out something with such an obvious error, so clicked on sender details which were slightly different to the other VWFS emails I have received (paid off loan, recently).

Will pop into dealer tomorrow, and see what they think.

Well, it is not a scam (thank goodness), but egg on Škoda face for such an obvious error. Seems @comms.VWFS.co.uk is the commercial arm, that sends out advertising emails (comms = commercials, which is what used to call adverts!). Also found that dealer would do a better deal, for two services, two MOTs and two years warranty. Also, very tempted by the smaller EV (0% on PCP and free home charging point). Decisions decisions!

Tell 'em they're wrong.

In the UK "Comms" is short for Communications (just like we pronounce Skoda as "Skoda" and not "Shkoda"and Ikea as "eye-Kea" and not "ii-kea"). 😉

Bloody foreigners mucking about with our languge ..... 🙄
