Sorry not been on this site for awhile

The only thing I get now is if I open the glovebox the dash indicates the the tail gate is open and I get the binging sound and when I close the glovebox it stops. Small price to pay for it only being that and not everything else that it was doing.

Oh wow, yes definitely a wiring issue there.
Mine is definitely something to do with the buffers and striker bar.
If I use a screwdriver to simulate the bar closing the latch, it clicks into 1st position and then 2nd closed position fine and the car says the boot is locked and closed, so the latch sensor is fine.
I have it now where it closes, pulls down but is about 2mm not doing the 2nd click fully via the pull down.
I have a suspicion that the bar itself is too thin. going to add some tape as a test to increased the diameter of the striker bar and see if that works
