Traffic Sign Recognition activation

Featured Replies

Has anyone successfully enabled traffic sign recognition (and hi beam assist) on amundsen equipped models?

I have seen posts about it being done on columbus equipped, and its suggested that it'spossible on other models.

I have the windscreen mounted camera for lane assist and automatic windscreen wipers so am I right in thinking it's a relatively simple coding process to enable the extra features?

Thanks in advance.

Yes only Coding

Ive done it in a 2021 Kamiq in AUSTRALIA which have different maps to Europe and USA

STATE WHAT COUNTRY YOU ARE IN BECAUSE THE INTERNET I WORLD WIDE and what might apply in one posters country may not apply in yours

Me too on my 2016 L&K with a MIB2 Amundsen, both TSR and HBA which I find really useful.

Road Sign Settings .pdf Try this its for an Ausralian Tiguan and it worked I think its what I used on the Kamiq

Yeah, I did both on my Mk3.5 when I had it.

Ended up not using either though. The sign recognition would throw up wrong signs. The HBA wasn’t quick enough to react. I do use HBA on my Golf though. It seems to be better and the matrix LED work well with it as well.

I don’t think you’re missing much with the Octavia though.

If enabled, It's the first thing I switch off when I get into a car, followed by lane assist. More pain than gain IMO.

The lane keeping assistant is with an adapted data set I find quite pleasant to drive

Thanks for the replies, sounds like it should be fairly straight forward then?

Oh, and i'm in the UK

I, myself, hate almost everything about the less-than-optimal way these 'aids' supposedly assist drivers. Not least their clunky implementation (across not just the Euro/VAG marques, others too), their common errors in the real world (i.e., sign recognition - and now the 'mandatory' speed bonging), but also the tangible laziness that it's promoting in most of the driver-drones out on the roads today. Same as @Gammyleg , I switch everything off as soon as I get into a new vehicle for the very reason it's weakening my control of the car.

That said, you may be the first person I've ever heard state this opinion 😅 (and I commend you for it, btw! 👍) - each to their own etc.

Does the adapted data set make a significant difference, then?

Indeed yes. I for one am one of the few that seems to like the stop-start feature, plenty don't. Yes it can stuff-you-up sometimes but most of my journeys are distance rather than local so I don't stop that often, plus it's the closest switch to my left hand and can be disabled without even looking at it.

Yes, i have 60 sec. Without hands in the steering Wheel. The Car is exactly in the Middle

Can this be linked to and can it be used in a 21 Kamiq.

As far as lane assist is concerned if you set it to mild it is worthwhile as its not intrusive and if you inadvertently wander a bit it pulls you back into line. I have used it for 6 years and dont mind it at all. In fact when I went on holiday I had a Mitsi rental that wandered all over the place Not sure if alignment was out or it was me.. Possibly being used to being corrected I wasnt aware enough of the agriculture machine For S/S I had it turned off in prev cars but cant in this one. However those who say its a nuisance at lights, do this. Just lift foot a little on the brake and car will stay put but engine will start. Did that for years in the Passat and didnt seem to affect anything..

Yes probably will work for Euro cars but wont for AUS models as we have to change Fusion to Recognition due to our weirdly coded maps If you leave it on Fusion it simply doesnt work
