Daytime Driving Light bulb

Featured Replies

I need to change the bulb in my Daytime driving light/ side light. Found out it's a sealed unit. Has anybody changed one on a 68 plate Superb .is this a flow in the design. Is it a replacement headlight unit

LEDs?

No...it's like a standard side light bulb. . All the bulbs in the headlight unit can be changed from the back as normal but no access to the daytime driving light.

It's one of the first things I changed when I got the car. I hated how yellow the DRL bulbs were, even compared to the factory H7 bulbs. This excellent post from @SJCSE details the procedure of cutting the unit and once done, the cap fits perfectly:

I've since gone through various PW24W LED options, but the only ones I found close to the Osram Cool Blue Intense H7 I use (just road legal) kept giving errors. I ended up going with halogen bulbs that are very close and obviously give no errors. It's the blue tint version listed as "white":

Working perfectly for 7 years.

EDIT: I remember having to shave a tiny amount off the leg of some bulbs, just to get a perfect fit.

Thanks for that. I gather all the unit has to come off for me to cut a hole and get the cap from the dealers 👍

It's the wheel lining that needs to dropped down. You could take the headlight unit out, but that's a lot more work and not necessary. Check the post for full details.

Dealers can supply the cap, same as the one just beside it.
