Hi,

I am not sure if this is the right place. I have 2021 Superb with new type of steering wheel (exemplary photo attached).

The problem I have is unintentional change of heating steering done by programmer some time ago (I have no possibility to contact 😒).

Before the change I had the possibility to turn on/off and change the heating level from the button on the steering wheel (the sequence lvl 3-2-1-0). Now I can only turn on/off from the button, but the heating level can only be changed on the infotainment screen.

It makes me crazy, but I cannot find how to recode it. I have Car scanner+Vgate and have long coding options available.

I have checked:

Control unit: 08 Air Conditioning

byte 11: 0C (Steering wheel heater levels: multi-level) - maybe it shall be changed to one-level?

Can anybody help me 🙄?

I have the same wheel (without perforations) and I accidentally messed it up by selecting a different type of steering wheel - effectively telling the car I had a different one to the one I actually have; and the heated button didn’t work but I didn’t realise for ages.

It’s in the long coding but it might be a different module. Let me try and find out what I did and it’s something else for you to try

Ok pretty sure from previous posts banging on about it it’s Central Electrics. Long coding and one of the last couple of bytes is the model of Steering wheel. The names aren’t obvious so try and change it to another one, save it and see what the button does. I think from memory there are about 4 different options. Fingers crossed!

@travs I wonder if this byte shall be like I have or:

byte 11: 04 (Steering wheel heater levels: One-stage).

Maybe then it disappear from infotainment and works by the button. Honestly, I am newbie to coding and I am afraid to mess something up. The button works but only as on/off now.

I have to search for the bytes as CarScanner has no description :-/. Do you have any idea which byte shall I check?

Searching descriptions at OBD11 forum I haven't found anything about steering wheel :-(.

There was a retrofit from 2-spoke to 3-spoke with heating done a longer white ago.

You have Retrofit the New Style?

The Problem is, the Button of the new Style have a Other lin Protokoll

No, I had new style (2-spoke) and switched to new Style 3-spoke with heating.

Maybe I expert too much but after installation I had 3-2-1-0 lvl by button on the steering wheel + heated sits activated heated steering wheel + heated steering wheel activated below 4 degrees of Celcius.

Now I have only on/off by button on the steering wheel, no changing levels. Seat and temperature activation is present.

I checked all options in Car Scanner and I don't find all adaptations from the thread:

I guess that I have to find VCDS or OBD11 owner to check, but maybe someone could help to find them in CarScanner

Adjustments have nothing to do with the long coding. Is the 3-spoke steering wheel from a Superb 3?

Select Heated steering wheel and heated steering wheel automatic mode

This is Octavia 4 and MQB EVO. You will never find this in Superb 3

Disable [LN]_Heated_steering_wheel_button in 19 gateway adaptations

and make sure you have [LO]_Heated_steering_wheel_version: [VO]_LRH_Gen_2_mod in 8 - Climate Control Module coding

I have such coding and can change the heating level from SW button
