Not enough toe adjustment

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I recently brought a MK2 Fabia VRS, knowing it needed most of the front suspension replacing due to age. I brought all the parts to do so (lower arms and a F+R suspension kit)

After installing the front coil overs obviously it needed tracking, but the front toe was so obviously out as both front edges of the tyres pointed visibly away from each other. Likely I work at a garage and we have a laser tracking machine. Doing the tracking I pretty much ran out of toe adjustment, OSF is maxed out so far its maybe only in the track rod ends by a few threads.

So my question, is this normal? Or is something gone wrong with either the parts or me fitting them😅

Sounds a lot like it could be down to some wrong parts have been fitted to it, even some parts fitted to the wrong side or just 2 of the same part fitted where there should be a RHS and LHS version.

I'm sure that the lower arms come in two different lengths to tie in with the longer or shorter road springs.

Edit:- so, from where I'm coming from, you really do need to find out what parts you have bought and which side they were fitted to, this shouldn't be happening to someone that works in a garage!

If its only holding by a couple of threads its obviously not right. Check the bottom ball joints as I think they are side specific as are the track rod ends but they should still have decent thread contact. If they are fitted in reverse then the bend in the track rod end may be puting the alignment way out or perhaps a combination of both. It could also be that one or more of the parts is wrong for the car.

I have double checked the parts, and did check when installing them for correct ns/os placement. Just wanted to know if toe being far out is normal for a lower car, as i can tell its not... but I'll go back and strip bits off to check again, then contact the parts suppliers.

Thanks for your insite

Currently on a middle/high setting, but I did compare the shocks to oem, there slightly shorter. Fit one side completely and compared to the other side, looked the same. Just cant understand the toe adjustment situation as I cant make sense as it why it would be so far out
