vRS built and sat at Emden - Roughly how long?

Featured Replies

HI All,

Finally it's out the factory and it's at Emden , hopefully not a long wait as it was built week 34 (almost a month back)

Anyone have rough idea of the average time once it catches the boat and arrives at the dealer?

Might not be the same now - but my MY16 Octavia was delivered to Surrey Dealer a week after arriving at Emden.

It varies lots, depends on ship schedule, number of other cars in VW group heading to UK etc. Some have got on ships in 3 days, others seem to be 3 or 4 weeks.

Many ships seem to do Sheerness, Grimsby, Tyne as multiple disports, so could take couple of days extra if routed elsewhere first.

If they expect a storm in North Sea or Southern Baltic, then ship might be delayed or swapped to avoid stormy area.

Once it reaches UK, it will depend on other cars going to same dealer, they will want a full road transporter, although that might do two offloads at different dealers. Clearly if a ship offloads few thousand cars, and next one is not for another 2-3 weeks, then going to have to await transport capacity. Also If you are in far West then they need a transporter with sleeper cab as won't be possible to get from docks and back in one driver shift.

Thanks for both taking the time to respond, guess I have another 2-3 weeks roughly.

Let's see

It's hard being patient though, isn't it?

Our Elroq was build week 9 which was week commencing 24th Feb. It was shipped through Port of Tyne and we had it standing on our drive on 27th March. Not sure how it happened but we missed the Expensive car supplement part of RFL which came in on 1st April.

Great timing on both fronts, we are going to get hot by that, it's a bit of a joke tax as they knew they would have got most EV buyers.

Their arr some great lower priced options coming in now , if we didn't have growing kids I would have gone for the Renault 5 or the Alpine a290.

The Skoda fits perfectly for where are on life

I know it's not an exact science but if it helps, my vRS was built week 33 and picked it up last week. So fingers crossed not long for you now.

It's worth the wait, you'll love it.

Thanks @arronrose87 not sure what's going on with mine, still nothing and the lack of comms from the dealer is poor.

What's making it worse is there are discounted models on auto trader new with the same spec. If they don't get me an answer next week, I may just cancel and go with one of these as they are outside of their delivery window

Spoke to the dealers and it's still apparently sat at Emden after weeks, absolute joke.

The dealer obviously cannot do anything but very poor by Skoda , when I look at their logistics compared to Tesla it's horrific . Really does our me off buying any more , our Superb has been brilliant but the experience of trying to order an Enyaq a few years back under COVID and now this doesn't feel me with confidence

Still no Elroq vRS, it's been sat at the port in embden for weeks now, especially if it was really built w/c 34 Aug 18th.

Spoke to my dealer again and no update, apparently lots of cars backing up at sheerness and Grimsby causing the issues ... This is odd as people who ordered similar spec cars after mine are getting them on Facebook groups.

I'm starting to wonder if the car was actually built in August and if the dealer held back the order (June 20th) as they had reached their quarterly sales figures to make the following quarter look good.

We need a car by November so I've invoked my right to cancel and given them 14 days to deliver as per their contract.

If it doesn't turn up , there are lots of discounted ones on autotrader appearing, they will be stuck with a fully maxed out vRS in hyper green (they will probably shift it quickly if sales figures are to be believed)

The new Merc electric CLA also looks pretty decent so we are going to check that out

Really who and when they arrive in the UK is not about SALES or Importing and paying the tax and getting the vehicles paid for and out to Customers, but very much about First Registrations and meeting the Co2 Fleet Averages and the EV Mandate First Registrations are being met.

Dealers vehicles for individual / private customers vehicles might well get treated differently to Fleet / Motability / Lease of 'Management / Demonstrator vehicles. Less urgently or more urgently.

So I’m build week 42 (this week) for my elroq vrs. What are the guesses on when it will be on my driveway?

Maybe because it was taxed and registered before the 1st April 2025 and the tax will be next due 1st March 2026?

Expensive car supplement is payable years 2-6, so the keeper pays it, not the dealer on registration.

If your new Zero Emission car was registered by 31st March 2025, the first year VED was £0. subsequent years will be £195 with no ecs

From April 1st 2025 first year £10 2nd year onwards £195 subject to ecs.

^^^ Just as long as the BEV,s list price did not exceed £40,000.

Just had a VM from my dealer, car is still sat at Emden ... This has to be around 5 weeks.

How this company stays in business whilst complaining about the threat or achi se brands amazes me, incompetence is breath taking .

Still cannot tell the dealer when it will be on a ship, I actually really feel for the dealer here . Seems like a decent chap tbh , would drive me mad having to deal with the jokers at VAG.

When it eventually ships, I probably then have a two week wait until it gets to the dealership, I've already invoked the contract clause to cancel and the clock is ticking .

Challenge is there isn't really that many great alternatives to the Elroq , checked out the Volvo ex30 (too small with lots of software issues) Renault 5/Alpine a290 also too small, don't want another Tesla model Y (crap build and scary safety related to door looks mechanism). Cars are crazy expensive these days with sickening depreciation, also looking at a Polestar 3 but may be too big . Thought about a model 3 but same dodgy electronic door locks

I've got a lot of work and personal travel coming up so we ideally need it by November.

The VW Group stayed in business even after Billions of fines for Defeat Devices and getting away with all sorts of nonsense over the decades.

They partner with TESLA, SAIC and others to get away without penalties for not Registering enough EV,s in the EU and the UK while not importing into the UK all they could of ones they actually have built.

They are the VW Group, money lenders, with investors / owners like Qatar.

Loads of money.

Are you still considering picking up one of the unregistered ones from Autotrader?

I'm considering this if I can find the same or similar spec, I'm going to give the dealer until the contract clause which then effectively nullifies the contract due to X amount of time over estimated delivery with the demand they deliver within two weeks which they have acknowledged.

There are over 70 VRS on the Skoda website with some available immediately (around 5 in a similar spec)

I'm also considering a polestar 4

Edited by Sw1

Polestar 4 is considerably more expensive than the Elroq and the rear view mirror made my eyes hurt when we drove it.

Our Elroq took a week to arrive at the dealership after build was completed. Maybe we just got lucky and caught a ship in time.
