Wheel hanger alignment pin

Featured Replies

These pins were mentioned on an earlier post and sound like a very good idea. I have seen them on Amazon but they come in assorted thread sizes. Can anyone please advise what size to buy ? Thank you.

I bought one soon after buying my car - having spent a lifetime replacing a wheel by hanging it on studs it seemed a recipe for madness to try and support the weight of a wheel and tyre whilst lining it up EXACTLY with a small hole before holding everything in place to insert the first wheel stud. These should be included in the spare wheel kit (£1 each to Skoda buying in bulk?). Does exactly what you want when replacing a wheel. The first time you use it you'll think "Money well spent" particularly if it's dark and raining 🙂

A pair of them is useful.

My BMW had one in the tool kit but it was next to useless because the bit that fits in the threaded hub is plastic and snapped the first time it was used (18" x 9" wheels and a very heavy tyre). Now replaced with a stainless steel one from the bay.....

Look at your local diy store get a half threaded one, cut off the hex head et voila'probably cheaper than elsewhere, mine works a treat! ;-)

I bought a plastic peg as supplied with some VW Group cars, for adding to all the family VW Group cars that didn't get one in the tool kit, then bought the aluminium version that Audi supply with its biggest/heaviest cars for use in the garage - it was quite cheap to buy from an Audi dealership parts department. I had already bought a plastic one for use in the garage and it is still fit for use.

M14 X 1.5 is the version that you want to get.

Edit:- sorry that was answered already!
