Wireless charging problem

Featured Replies

Very happy with my 2025 L&K except that my Pixel 9a won't wireless charge. I've tried with and without case, moving the phone position and also with the phone reversed on the charging pad. It registers the phone when I drop it on the mat, but after 5s or so, stops with a warning that the phone cannot charge. My 9a charges perfectly on my Pixel Stand 2. Wireless AA works fine, and at the moment I'm using a USB-C charging cable. Not the end of the world, but when I collected the car I briefly looked at the issue with the dealer his phone charged fine. Just wondering if this is a known issue.

No issue with iPhone, Samsung or oneplus.

When I put it on the charging pad, I always align the phone to the bottom left corner od the charging Ares frame and it always charges perfectly.

No problems with overheating during the summer.

Ok, thanks. Bit of a loss if various other phones work ok I guess. Wouldn't expect much response from Skoda or Google, so I'll have to keep digging. Like I said, I can use USB-C with the phone on the charging pad, but wireless charging (which should work) would be nice.

I have the same problem with my 8a. have had the dealer look at it they replaced the charging pad but it is still the same. However my phone charges perfectly well in a new VW golf which presumably uses the same system. Very annoying.

Further to the above comment: I have now tested my 8a in a different superb and my phone charged without problems even with the case fitted so there must clearly be a problem specific to my car.

My Pixel 8 Pro and normal Pixel 8 both charged fine. Since replacing them with a Pixel 10 Pro it has the same issue you've reported. I've also tried a normal Pixel 10 and a Pixel 9A and they both do the same thing.

I've given up for now and just use a cable again on long drives

my oneplus 10 charges ok, but in the week we have had the car my phone has overheated twice.

does the charging pad have any cooling in it?

Thanks for all the replies. I've learned to not plugin in the phone on short journeys and just connect a USB-C charging cable on longer ones, which seems to do the job. One question though - is wireless Android Auto the only way of connecting to the car now? I'm just curious if the mk4 actually supports wired android auto now at all?

More info regarding pixel phone charging. My phone will not charge wirelessly in my car (24 reg superb) but will work in both a new Golf and also a 25 reg superb. I wonder if Skoda have changed the charger in some way. My phone also charges in a 25 reg Octavia.

Which Pixel are you using? My problems are with a 24 reg superb.

My Samsung Ultra was exactly the same at first, when car was new in late 2024. I tried all suggestions from here... Try without the spigen case, try the opposite way round, try the dealer 🤣, software updates, try upside down etc etc etc.

Nothing worked. Then suddenly, not precisely sure when, but it suddenly started working. Same car, same phone, same case. It's been perfect ever since.

The only thing I would add is that even when it's working it's very poor/slow charger. I've driven 100's of miles with it on charge and the amount of charge the phone receives can be bettered with the proper charger at home in a couple of hours.

Pixel 9 charges OK in my 25 plate I've picked up today.

My s24 ultra dosent always work with the spigen case. I just use the cable now. It's faster anyway.
