Engine Cover

Featured Replies

Skoda Karoq SEL 1.5 TSI DADA DSG (2023)

Just been out to top up the coolant in my wife's car. As it's under warranty I have never been under the bonnet before.

Should it have an engine cover or is it from the factory that exposed?

Thanks,

Kev.

They've done away with engine covers on lots of models now.

No worries. I don't know the why's and wherefores of it. Probably accountants. They're mostly aesthetic anyway IMO with minimal sound suppression.

Don’t forget the EA888 warranty fix in 2020/21 ish, where they just removed the engine covers entirely!

My vRS has no sound deadening underneath the bonnet - it’s the same with all TSI engine vRS models. VW sort of claimed that it was for enhanced sound, etc, but last time I checked an M3 had stuff on the underside of the bonnet…

VAG.

It was due to a fire risk recall on certain TSI engines, the 1.6 and 2.0 TDI’s still got full engine covers.
