Car Play loses connection

Featured Replies

I have had a few issues with Car Play losing the connection to my IPhone. This happens randomly while in the the middle of a journey. I have tried various ways of re-connecting but the only way that works is to get switch off the car, get out and lock it. When i get back in, Car play connects immediately on switching on the ignition. Anybody else had this issue ?

Have you tried holding pressing and holding down the infotainment system power button until the system reboots?

That usually fixes weird issues like that and you can do it while driving.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

Also, if you go the the bluetooth menu in iphone you will find your car in the list of connections. If you go into the settings of the skoda item in that list, you will see Carplay that you can disable, and then re enable. This is usually also fixing the connectivity issue for a while.

Thanks for the info dembala

I have a problem after latest updates with carplay and android auto when the car was connected to another phones hotspot wifi.

  • 2 months later...

I can share having a connectivity issue on Android Auto, but it happens in the same place, whenever I drive through that spot, it loses connectivity, but I leave it alone and comes back and connects by itself.

I can only recommend:

  • testing with another phone

  • testing with another car app (AA if you use CP)

  • making sure your updates are done on your phone and car

  • checking on your phone if all works fine (might be from your phone side)

  • 3 weeks later...

In my two previous cars, Octavia VRS saloon and Octavia VRS estate, I had a really strange event where the Car Play always lost connection as I approached the M6 Toll from the north. After about a mile into the M6 Toll, connection was automatically re-established.

With the first car, I just put in down to a purely connection issue, but on subsequent trips in always lost connection at that spot.

When I got the estate and the same thing happened, I thought that something weird was happening at that location.

Now with my current Kodiaq I haven't been down that way as yet, but cant wait to see if the same thing happens again.

One of the salesmen at my local dealer has the same problem when he goes over a certain bridge. Apparently he thinks it is due to a 5g mast right by it.

Who knows?

I have a similar issue. Having recently had the software update, both my iPhone and the wife’s android will connect but after about 15-20 mins, disconnects and we are unable to reconnect without turning the car off, locking and restarting it.

Also having a problem with the car wifi. I have a new data plan, after the first 12 month free with the car expired which worked perfectly by the way. It is now impossible to set up and I keep getting an error message saying something like eSIM owner not assigned.

It’s going back to the dealer in a couple of weeks, let’s hope they can resolve it.

If it's any consolation I have a similar issue with a Mk1 Kodiaq at a particular location - I also reckon it's to do with interference - either from stray current from a tram system at that locations, or from a nearby communications mast at the same location. It can take some time for it to get itself sorted...

It’s a bit strange that the wife’s android stays connected all the time.
