Suspension options

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Reading a few threads of suspension changes and was thinking of doing the same

Does anyone know of any spring kits which go with the Bilstien B6 non adaptive to only lower the car 15-20mm, not wanting 30mm plus lowering.

Just so that car sits a bit lower on the Trinity alloys it has, you used to be able to get top caps which did similar but not sure if this is still a thing.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply @MartiniB mines a fWD 220ps

Eibach Pro-kit springs lowered my car 25mm.

i also have a FWD 220, with DCC shocks.

this was how it was when i had the factory 19" Trinity rims.

Superb MK3 2.0TSI/2.0TDI hatchback FWD (Front Wheel Drive)

Treat the below numbers as only approximate. My best guess is 30mm front drop and 25mm rear drop...assuming a 5Q0411105GM/3Q0511115AK starting point. The actual front and rear drop could vary significantly from this estimate.

Sachs 993905 standard ride height front spring (matches 5Q0411105GM)

Length 315mm, Wire diameter 12.25mm

Sachs 994977 standard ride height rear spring (matches 3Q0511115AK)

Length 364mm, Wire diameter 12.25mm

Eibach R18812 lowered ride height front spring (sold to replace 5Q0411105HF and one other spring)

Length 282mm, Wire diameter 12.50mm

https://www.autodoc.co.uk/eibach/17876012

Eibach R21875 lowered ride height rear spring (sold to replace 3Q0511115AB and one other spring)

Length 330mm, Wire diameter 13.00mm

Thanks for the replies.

Does the 4x4 version suffer with the same suspension issues, drove it on a long distance this week and really noticed how the car is a little bouncy with now compliance when at high speed, so really looking into doing this.

As I could upgrade to the Sportline suspension to get the slightly lower look and better feel or do they suffer also?

Only standard suspension setup that isn't floaty and bouncy is a DCC equipped car in Sports Mode.

@logiclee thanks for the reply, I was hoping you wouldn't say that.

So could you run B6/8 struts with Sportline springs?

Sportline springs are lowered ride height.

B6 is for lowered ride height, and is only available for non-DCC.

B6 non-DCC and B8 non-DCC have a better monotube design compared to the B8 DCC twintube design.

I don’t have DCC, so I could run the Sportline springs with B6 which should give me the right lowered approach with out the car being 30mm plus lowered

Eibach R18812 lowered ride height front springs and Eibach R21875 lowered ride height rear springs should provide a similar ride height to a car that left the factory with lowered ride height, eg. a SportLine.

No, still factory DCC shocks, but I've done the DCC Mod & DCC Recalibration, which completely transforms the factory adaptive suspension feel - no more bounce, no more wallow, no more bottoming out.

Not relevant to this thread but just pick up on this - no B8 DCC for us. Only application I found it for was a Porsche model.

DCC for VAG is B4, B6 shocks and B16 coilovers.

Non-DCC is B4/B6/B8 shocks, then coilovers B12, B14(height adjustable), B16 (height and stiffness adjustable).

Sounds like a sensible approach.

KW are very well rated, going back to your previous point btw.

This seems the best option with having a steep drive to the road

Thanks, it seems to come down to do it once and right rather than keep doing other things to then revert to what you should do at the start, but I have a steep drive hence why would only go as low as a Sportline on the SE L Executive

Hate to force your hand on this one but KW have 30% off at the mo.

They were on my list to get their DDC (their aftermarket version of DCC) but they were out of my price range. Whereas this would have brought them right into the mix.

Where from? Awesome is discounting the DCC ones but only about 12%, if they were offering 30% then I would be tempted and would sell my B16 DCC

It came up in a The Phirm Facebook post but I googled and it’s direct from KW.

Get them sent out and then fitted as customer supplied.

Seems they are upto 30% with the V2 Comfort being only £200 off

That should read, "B8 is for lowered ride height, and is only available for non-DCC" and "B6 non-DCC and B8 non-DCC have a monotube design and B6 DCC has a twintube design".

Monotube is better (and more expensive) than twintube".
