Changing 2011 Yeti Head Unit - Bluetooth/SatNav required

Featured Replies

Hi all,

This is my first post and I need your help.

We’d like to modernise our 2011 Yeti with a new head unit that has Bluetooth and Satnav as a minimum, but preferably CarPlay if possible.

I’m not technical at all and looking on eBay is an absolute minefield!

Have you guys used a specific company or model for this type of upgrade?

I’m very conscious I’ll order something that won’t fit or is just a knock off that won’t actually work.

Thanks

As you say, it's a minefield.

One route could be to get one of the later model Yeti's unit with or without built in Sat nav. You can then get a dealer / audio expert to enable the SmartLink function, which gives you Apple Car Play, Android Auto.

On saying all that it might be cheaper going aftermarket with a good, local to you audio specialist!

Kenwood do at least one that retains most Yeti functions.

Hi - I've just purchased an Android head unit from Auto Tech Direct. Ordered on Monday, arrived Tuesday, and it took about 15 minutes to install. It's got a 9" display, with Bluetooth, wireless Android Auto/Car play, and retains the steering wheel controls. I'm still playing with it and setting it up, but so far it seems to do everything the original did and more. I had the Bolero with no satnav, so this is a significant upgrade. ATD have been very responsive with the questions I raised with them. It's a bit too early to recommend the unit, I'll need to test it properly on a good drive out, but so far I'm very happy with it. The existing facia fitted perfectly around the unit. I've got a 2015 (MY2016) Yeti and bought the PBA VWMQB head unit.

I’m in the same boat and I’ve searched what I think to be a decent amount about upgrading the Bolero to the Columbus but I’m semi technically illiterate so I would really appreciate a link to an idiots guide or give me a little help I’d really appreciate it
