thanks Mike....wow!!!! Steep prices. I'm used to paying 50 quid give or take for my 70s-90s fleet

Those prices will likely be 'official' Skoda prices. Take a look at one of the Euro suppliers - such as skoda-parts.com - or aliexpress.com in China.

My 2009 1.8 TSI exhaust broke earlier this year, just where the pipe joins the middle box, hunted around and the price for that was £700 plus, and a six month wait for the replacement section, could not wait that long as it is a used daily, for the whole system i was quoted £1500.

Checked around the local custom exhaust fabricators and got the complete system replaced in stainless steel for £750, with ten year guarantee.

As an aside looking for a new battery, no designation in the handbook of size physical or Ah needed, anybody got any ideas for this?

Try Tayna batteries. Prices fairly good and next day delivery. Have used them a good few times and so far so good. Most petrols are 027 battery but random ones are 096 (same as diesel) Think from memory 096 is physicaly longer but both fit.(check first)

The 096 is also highter Ah and more capacity so probably fitted to car with all extra electrics. I have an 096 in my 1.6tdi but the insulated battery cover is too small so should probably have an 027

Alasdair

+1 for Tayna.

I get my batteries from Advanced batteries in Bredbury and looking at their batteries, priced at circa 60 quid. And they last about 6 years give or take. Perhaps you will have a similar supplier in your area
