Cheap and cheerful mods

Featured Replies

Howdy folks. Recently picked up a late 2015 mk3 style as a daily.

Just wondering what cheap and easy mods people have done.

I have already put in led fogs and pressed metal plates plus a full set of rubber mats.

Car is a hatch with a sunroof in business grey.

Would like to see one with black badges and maybe the chrome trim around the windows vinyl wrapped as mine are gone white in places from chemicals in the wash I'm guessing..

Thanks folks

Superskoda/Kopacek are the place to go for black badges. They get a local dealer to spray to match your body colour. Match that to wrapping of the window surrounds.

Aluminium pedals? Ottocast for wireless AA/Carplay?

Cool white interior led bulb set?

Is superskoda kopacek now? Went looking for superskoda but couldn't find it. Got a good few bits for my old fabia off them back in the day.

Ya I was thinking of sporty pedals.

I got a wireless adapter for Android Auto off Amazon but I can't get it to work. Maybe it's down to my phone...

Yes - weird name change but they’re and the same. Plenty of bits on there to look at for sure!

Yup, Superskoda changed their name to Kopacek a number of years ago now.

Have a look at my Build Thread for some ideas.

I too have a Business Grey Liftback/hatch.

This how Gandalf looks like now.

Difficult to say not knowing what really ticks you ...

You can do soundproofing .... metal covers for the pedals, including footrest.

Mudflaps for keeping bodywork cleaner or additional spoilers/lips all around like Gandalf above.

Add rubber lips/door seals, wind deflectors, mats ... list if endless!

Also there are a few tweaks, if you have access to diagnostic software!

I seem to have led in the interior roof lights. Was it a factory option?

I put in an AliExpress reversing camera, but not made any cosmetic additions

Mine came with LED interior lights everywhere except for glovebox and boot lights.

Yup same as mine. I also have pull up blinds on the back 3 windows which I don't think they all have?

Also do all the models with xenon lights have the ability to turn a bit when going around corners?

It’s not the lights turning, it’s the little triangular corner section underneath which comes on under a certain speed for manoeuvring - well def for facelift versions but think they’re there for pre-FL too

All mk3 Superb Bi-Xenon headlights have AFS 2, which swivels the low beam left/right during cornering. It also changes the length & width of the beam depending on the driving environment (urban, highway, rain etc. etc.)

In addition, if enabled, the foglights also have Cornering Light function, which lights up the ground directly in front of the car, during low cornering speeds.

With the built-in sunshades (blinds), it depends on the market and options.

Mine has the rear window shades, but not the rear hatch shade.

Only the facelift Superb uses that triangular lighting bit.

Pre-facelift uses the foglights for low speed Cornering Light function.

Ah, i miss understand it, i was thinking about the Mirrow LED "Boarding Spot"

I only noticed it on high beam going around corners. Also doesn't seem to do it if the fog lights are manually switched on.

Mine has all 3. Possibly because it has the sunroof?

AFS function only in Auto Mode from light

The lights were in auto mode on the switch when I noticed it but were still in auto mode when I switched on the fog lights

Thanks for correcting as ever 😁

@seanw I think this is the light under the door mirror that shines down as another puddle-light type.

By Area View in the reverse gear also

Both high beam and low beam will swivel with AFS, regardless of foglights being on/off.

In ECO driver profile mode, AFS (adaptive lighting) is disabled.

Hi. I’ve recently picked up a late 2015 SE L Exec 2.0Tdi DSG in moon white myself. My work on it so far have been cosmetic/ functional and it’s already had some simple things done. The wheels have been recently refurbed in dark grey and the calipers painted red, the interior lights have all been changed to bright white LED and it’s had the AdBlue coded out as well as a few other bits and pieces added to the options menus with VCDS in the past.

So far I’ve done:

  • Start/stop memory module from AliExpress

  • Chrome bumper protector strip (to cover some scuffs on the paintwork)

  • AliExpress reversing camera

  • Replacement top for DSG lever

  • Switch to top of DSG to correct “Workshop only” fault

  • Floor Mats

  • Number plates and frame holders

  • Replace parking ticket clip that was broken

Next on the list is to obtain a proper spare wheel and tool kit as I’ve only got the pump and foam, and the foam is out of date.

I also need to replace the parking brake switch as the chrome is chipped, and the gear lever leather has seen better days so that’s on the list too.

I’d love to do black badges and black out all the chrome as I think it would look really good against the white. But there’s quite a lot of chrome including the roof bars, window trim and grille. So that one will be for the long list. I also don’t want to go spending too much on it until it’s had its next service and had a once over from the local specialist garage just in case there’s any nasty surprises.

Most of my parts have come from AliExpress and I was initially sceptical but all of them have been spot on so far.
