Symphony radio SAFE mode

Featured Replies

Morning,

I have replaced the broken radio in my mk 1 Fabia for an ebay replacement. I sourced a code from the internet but can't input it (either me or my daughter tried too many times with 0000, 1234 etc?). All I need to know is how to get it out of safe mode - then I can input the code, as described in many places, by using the numbers 1-4 and OK'g the numbers by a long press of << or >>.

I guess it's something v simple but the guesses we've tried haven't worked.

From memory it's just a time-based issue - leave it long enough and it will let you enter a new number...

Thanks Skomaz. That was what I presumed form internet searches but it seems stuck in safe mode whenever you turn the ignition on (after a rest of 1, 5 mins or 24h etc). We disconnected the battery for 30 mins too.

There must be a well known hard reset sequence of buttons?

The time period might be based on driving time rather than just lapsed time - I really can't remember...

However, I do recall many years ago some comments about putting the radio in a freezer for a while that seemed to reset things but whether it worked or not I cannot say.

Leave the power on for about half an hour and it should go back to the entry screen. The procedure for entering the code is a bit odd, I can't remember what it is but it's in the owner's manual.

I've used these for a few codes in the past and never had a problem https://www.onlineradiocodes.co.uk/

If the radio doesnt work with ignition off it may need the ignition on so it gets power to get the timer to countdown.

Useful explanation. Thanks. I'll try as some internet answers (inc AI) say run the car for > 1 hr.

Thanks all.
