Superb 4 2.0 tsi 265 hp - battery issues?

Featured Replies

Hello our skoda Superb has the following behavior - the car goes offline if it is not driven for more than 2 days. I have measured the voltage:

If the car is parked for 2 days it drops to 12V.

On the 14th day it drops to 11,2V.

I usually charge it when the voltage is below 12V. For charging I use AGM charger.

We use the car for long distances only (more than 200 km (120 miles). But it offen stays in the garage for a week or more. The garage is warm constant temperature around 10-12 Celsius (50-54 F).

The vehicle: Skoda Superb 4 2025 2.0 TSI 265hp, L&K 130

When the problem occur I can't check the windows/doors status and I can't start the auxiliary heater remotely. The lights don't start when I'm near the vehicle and I have to unlock by using the sensor on the door.

I shared my thoughts with the dealier/official service during my last oil change and they said that there were undervoltage DTCs but according to them this is normal and the vehicle should be drived everyday in order to work properly.

Did someone notice the described behavior? In my opinion there is an issue with the battery, but the official service says that this behavior is normal and it is because I don't use the car every day.

PS: I have superb 3 fl for 1 month the battery has dropped to 12.1 V (the battery is 2,5 years old)

The car is produced CW35 2025 (25.08 - 31.08). Odometer 6 000 km

Hello, is this vehicle any sort of hybrid - or is it a pure ICE one?

On rereading your post I'm assuming a 265 can only be pure ICE - sounds to me that either your alternator isn't charging correctly or the battery is faulty. What is the battery voltage when the engine is running?

Petrol engine.

When the engine is running the voltage is normal >14V.

Try testing the battery voltage while the engine is being cranked-over - if much below 10 volts, battery is probably failing.

Unless you have a parasitic drain on the vehicle, battery voltage should stay above 12.30 volts (70% SOC) for at least several weeks if vehicle is unused with battery in reasonable condition.

I think the requirement to drive every day is complete BS. If there would be such requirement it would be a major deal breaker for most buyers. I bet every dealer has plenty of cars on their inventory which stay put for a month or more between drives.

I use my 265hp 4x4 also for long distance drives and it gets plenty of rest in between maybe up to 3 weeks so far without any noticeable problems.

What I have noticed is that after a week or so of inactivity the keyless entry proximity sensor for approaching key stops working and I have to press a button on the key to open doors. I guess the car goes for some kind of deep sleep after a week of not getting driven. The mobile app and AUX heater still works though.

When charging you would expect closer to 15 volts.

Do you connect the charger to both battery terminals?

Do you lock the car when not using it?

Thanks. AG Falco

OP says greater than 14 volts with engine running.

My Skoda Superb L&K 265hp was purchased new in June 2025 and worked with no errors reported until November 2025 when the car was put in to the garage for a health check, to check a bodywork issue, when the car was returned by the garage a 12v battery low warning was given the door keyless entry sensor did not work I had to use the Button on the key to enter, the Primary User profile would not load had to use guest and the wing mirrors heaters do not work.

On garage investigation the battery control module was changed and the garage confirmed that the ECU cut back on non essential functions when the battery level was detected as being low.

The door opening, User Profile etc. stopped working after 3 days so changing the battery module did not work, the car has been booked in again for late March, but the fault does suggest a parasitic drain on the battery caused by a change carried out during the November ‘Health Check’, Issue not resolved investigation ongoing

No. During the charging I connect the (-) on the ground pin (not directly on the battery). The (+) is connected on the battery.

When the car is not in use it is locked and the key is outside the car range.
