I have something to show you

Featured Replies

I was sent an email with an interesting attachment by a friend today that I would like to share. However, as I am not a computer freak I'm not sure how to get the attachment on here. I selected to save the attachment and chose to save it in my pictures but when I looked it wasn't there. :o

Save it to desktop, or send it to me on MSN and I'll host and show it. :)

Have you read my tutorial ?

Bah, I thought we were gonna see Pixi neked! Ah well.

Walkie has the pictures ;)

The photograph attached was taken by the crew on board the Columbia

during its last mission, on a cloudless day.

The picture is of Europe and Africa when the sun is setting.

Half of the picture is in night. The bright dots you see are the cities' lights.

The top part of Africa is the Sahara Desert.

Note that the lights are already on in Holland, Paris, and Barcelona,

and that's it's still daylight in Dublin, London, Lisbon, and Madrid.

The sun is still shining on the Strait of Gibraltar. The Mediterranean Sea is

already in darkness.

In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean you can see the Azores Islands;

below them to the right are the Madeira Islands ; a bit below are the

Canary Islands; and further South, close to the farthest western point

of Africa , are the Cape Verde Islands.

Note that the Sahara is huge and can be seen clearly both during

day time and night time.

To the left, on top, is Greenland, totally frozen.

Is that real??

Yep, I got it a couple of years ago, cool pic

If it was real it would not show the sea depth. Its a computer generated image

And there would be at least one cloud in the sky over that kind of area!

I had it as my desktop background for a while - it's a nice pic.

So had I. I think it's cool!

Think it's possibly a real image taken using something other than the visual spectrum then touched up on a computer - looks awesome though

Water is way to reflective to see the depth... so it's CG... besides the day-night gradient is 18deg wide... not 3deg
