Beware OTA Software Update!

Featured Replies

Reports starting to surface on the Facebook groups of the latest OTA update being a bit of a mess, so might be an idea to defer it if offered.

Any idea what the update contains? Or how large it is?

No, I've just seen it described as "major" & then owners having multiple settings changed & having difficulty logging back into the car as a user.

@Rbz5416 I haven't been offered this on my MY21 Karoq but I'll surely keep a keen eye out fot it - Thank You.

Had a similar update on my 2021 golf last week, had to re designate primary user and re instate numerous vehicle settings, too about 2 hours to sort out ☹️

Not seen any further reports but not sure that means too much, given the way updates are drip fed to users. So it could mean that there are no further issues or simply that there's a pause in deploying it.

I'd challenge it as being 'major', considering it took about 5 seconds to install!

I work in IT, and I certainly wouldn't categorise it as a 'major' release!

I did notice some icons had been re-arranged on the menu yesterday but checking the software versions, nothing had changed.

It does warn about setting changes, had absolutely no issues with it, just needs a few settings tweaks afterwards.

The sky is always falling in, especially on FB , being the very worst echo chamber of the painfully uninformed 🤦

Can you remember which settings needed tweaking?

In my 21ym, Ocatavia, Android Auto won´t work.
It says it can´t find the phone, but everything else works via BT.

But can´t get Android Auto working.
Neither by cable nor by wireless.

Any ideas?

Hi ,

It's all sorted out by the newest release of the system setup, by Skoda.

so, is it now safe to accept it? It keeps nagging me, but concerned at what might happen!

You should probably note that he's posting about an Octavia, no idea why in a Karoq forum.

As I said previously, I've not seen any further reports of issues. But probably wise to only accept it when you have the time to run through the settings & resolve any changes/issues. Another VAG shortcoming IMO that there's no option to back up your settings to a USB drive.

I've still not been offered it but @Frizzbee30 says there were no issues.

I finally did mine a few days ago. No real problems - I did have to log back in, but for some reason login kept failing immediately afterwards, but was successful the next day. My virtual cockpit and mood lighting changed back to default so I had to change them back to how I'd set them up previously.

Also, the following day it randomly asked me for my PIN, even though I had it turned off previously. I entered the PIN and changed the setting back to 'don't ask for PIN' and it's been OK since.

Other than those fairly minor niggles I haven't had any problems.

I got the message last Wednesday and just had to log back in. Read the full message, before pressing OK, there is an option to delay installation. Try to avoid doing what I did. My finger pressed the OK while my eyes were still reading and before my brain had caught up!🙃

Hope to be selling my car next week, so will leave it for dealer to do. Happy to just keep cancelling the update. Never bothered putting personal details in, so nothing there to worry about, if I do the install. PIN?

The S-Pin. If turned on, you're asked to enter it everytime the Infotainment boots up. It's set in the app and can be changed in there quite easily if you've forgotten it

Over The Air, software delivered directly to the car via it's SIM.
