2.0 TDI can't be tuned

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I own a Superb Mk3 facelift, MY2023 with a 2.0 TDI 200 hp 4x4 DSG. I am interested in chip tuning it to stage 1, i researched a bit and found that i can be tuned to about 230-240 hp without any mechanical modifications. So i called a tuning shop and asked them and the guy working there said to me that it is impossible to tune it because the ECU itself is locked in some way and can't be modified. The tuning shop was suggested to me by a friend who tuned two cars there and was satisfied with their work, so that answer surprised me a bit. For clarification both cars that my friend tuned were older VAG cars, around 2012 model years. I am familiar with whole SFD thing and Volkswagen locking out all kinds of modules and software on newer cars but i thought that my Superb isn't that new to be much affected with that whole thing.

My question is, is it true that these engines can't be tuned or is that shop not qualified enough to work on newer cars and should i try and search for another tuning garage?

Thanks in advance

DTUA engine code by the looks of it. Darkside Developments seem not to be phased. They’re one of the better reputation diesel tuners so give them a shout.

I checked them out and found that they tuned Audi Q3 MY2022 with exact engine like mine and got about 235hp, so it looks like it is possible to tune it and this shop i called is just incapable to do it. Since im not from UK, looks like i should search for another tuning shop near me then. Thanks for the advice.
